Wow that's a sad news for the boxing fans. Why not the wbc picked Rod Salka or Charlie Zelenoff for Canelo ?
I hope DAZN rejects this fight. Callum or BJS vs Canelo.

Guy lost his last fight, got an MD vs a boarderline journyman the fight befor and now has been called mandatory, for arguably the best belt, against arguably the p4p guy right now, in a stacked Division.... fornicate that.
I also hope DAZN block It seeing as noone in the world is calling for it, except i dont think they will, with Canelo looking to fight at 168 for a bit and canelo being on a longgg deal, picking up that belt will be a worthy investment. That way he can be in proper unification fights against Smith, BJS, or even Plant. And is closer to a potential undisputed fight at the weight.

People are overreacting about Canelo facing Avni Yildirim.
Did people even bother to watch the Dirrell bout?
Yildrim is definitely better than some of the opponents other marquee names, such as Crawford, Golovkin, Kovalev, Luis Ortiz, Beterbiev, Ajagba etc., have faced during stay busy bouts, but they somehow escaped criticism.
Does anyone sincerely believe I’m wrong about this?
Phrases like “fake outrage” and “double standards” springs to mind.

When you only are gonna fight at most twice a year...there should be no stay busy fights.
I was fine with that in the 80s when some guys fought 4 times a year.... but not now.

DAZN haven’t sanctioned any of the names GBP offered to them, because they don’t want to abide by the terms of their eleven fight $365m contractual guarantee.

Yet is fighting for their vacant title.

it's not as much about canelo making quick work of avni yildirim as the WBC naming the turk as the mandatory for the super middle world champion belt vs. non ranked canelo.
canelo could fight for a heavyweight title if he wanted. we know how he got that spot.
how did yildirim get that shot? corruption. plain and simple. paying off the WBC with a million, 500 k for yildirim. õner making a small fortune with the couple of millions he gets from canelo. must've been quite a "bidding war" for that spot.
in a way he's a genius.
but that fight shouldn't be for the title. world ranked number 1 vs. number 2 in the best case scenario should fight for the title. if 2 isn't available for what ever reason you move to number 3 and so forth...
yildirim no way deserves to fight for the title.
except the canelo worshippers & turkish boxing ultras nobody wants to fvcking see that fvcking shit farce of a "title fight".
saunders, smith or ryder who beat smith or any other top guy should fight canelo.

There’s no corruption.
The WBC confirmed Yildrim’s status as the mandatory challenger to the 168-pound title holder David Benavidez during October of last year.
If you didn’t bother to complain or accuse the WBC of being corrupt ten months ago, when this was announced, then you shouldn’t feign outrage today.
Nothing has changed, other than Canelo expressing a desire to fight for a newly-vacated title.
It’s annoying to read bizarre claims written by people who can’t be bothered to fact check.
