Alexander Povetkin turns 41, after 2 weeks

Hi .. i just can't understand why still he is fighting ?
His last few fights showed he is on downhill and nothing exciting to watch him fight.
He isn't even dangoures anymore, let alone he never had stamina to put up with high work rate.
Dillian Whyte should be ashamed trying to build his resume of high profile washed up fighters

Gotta watch. Our TV (in Russia) shows it. Povetkin is ageing and declining, but he's still there. Actually, I'm picking Povetkin to win objectively, but close, while officials would score for Whyte. Hopefully, Povetkin manages to pull out a victory somehow.

41, thats quite an age to be a top level sportsperson......like Martina and Jimmy in tennis, Nolan and Charlie Hough in baseball, Robert Parish in basketball and of course, George in boxing!

I wonder if he's got plans for retirement, or if he'll keep going for a few more years yet. It'd be cool if he ended up beating Foreman's record. No doubt he'll end up in politics once he retires. Some seriously hard bastards in Russian politics.

A young 41 in boxing years, if there is a thing. Stayed active and stayed away from vodka, unlike Kovalev, who looks 15 years older.

Povetkin is slowing down, particularly stamina-wise, working in bursts rather than for 3 minutes a round, but it's easy to see how much more developed his boxing skills are than Whyte's. That said, Whyte has clearly learned in recent years how to find a way to win against better boxers. For me the question is whether Povetkin can sustain his level over 12.

This is a fair assessment. We know Povetkin is skilled, disciplined, powerful and rugged. But we have seen fighters age overnight and he is into his 40s.
Whyte is a big strong lump and it could be that he simply bullies the smaller man and gets him out of there. He however is susceptible to being wobbled and Povetkin possesses KO power.
It's an intriguing matchup and probably a bit tighter than the bookies have it around 1/4 for Whyte and 3/1 Povetkin.

Povetkin sucks balls, he couldn't beat medicore Marco Huck and immidiatly began juicing before he got caught cheating 2 years ago. Clean pulev will murder clean povetkin.

Not watching because I don't have an active DAZN account and I don't think this card is quite worth the $20 re-up.
That said, it's a very good HW fight and Povetkin is a live dog.

He has been near the top of the rankings for about eight years but who has he ever beaten? … Dimitrenko, Ustinov, Thompson, Abell, Chisora, Fury-light and Dinu. Not exactly murderers row is it? In 8 years he has never tested himself against anybody of genuine quality with the exception of Klitschko who destroyed him as will Joshua.
Povetkin isn't scared of anybody and neither is Whyte, but Fukctards like you criticise them like crazy while giving the timid pacifists and duckers a free-pass. Povetkin never got a free-pass for anything … except maybe the bus.

Interesting fights on the undercard, Taylor-Persoon obviously, but there's another one.
Alen Babic's opponent Shawndell Terell Winters has a KO win last September over undefeated, highly-regarded up-and-comer Oleksandr Teslenko last fall.
He's taken the 0's from others as well: Joe Jones and Misael Sanchez. And he's been active, fighting Sergiej Werwejko late last year and Joseph Parker this year.
Babic has a record of 3-0, he's in tough today considering his lack of pro experience.

Pretty impressive win by Babic, after wins over 3 complete non-entities. Winters is a good skin for one's 4th pro fight.
Why is Winters fighting HW? He weighed in at 194 and never above 208. Parker outweighed him by 35 lbs!
And is Babic a HW or not? He came in at 205. Are the weights correct for this bout?
