Queensberry Promotions Setting Up Polish HQ



QUEENSBERRY PROMOTIONS is expanding with the exciting launch of Queensberry Poland.

The new operation will be headed up by leading Polish fight figure Mariusz Krawczynski who has formed the company with Francis W.

There will be regular Queensberry Poland shows and Krawczynski and Warren are already signing some of the country’s best young boxers.

Among the amateur stars already signed are Cruiserweight Michael Soczynski and Heavyweight sensation Kamil Mroczkowski.

Krawczynski said of the new partnership: “This is a very exciting link-up and we have shown our intentions by signing Michael and Kamil who are two of the best amateur boxers in Poland.

“Kamil has had a bit of time out, but he is a big name in Poland and just 22 years-old.

“I have set up Queensberry Poland with Francis, and the venture will do so much for boxing in Poland.

“We will get maximum exposure for our boxers in Poland and very soon we will be staging our own promotions.

“We have two broadcasters I am speaking with and we will work out the best way to do this.”

Francis Warren added: “Poland has got a history of world champions, but they have all had to go to America for marquee fights and paydays.

“We want to make Poland a boxing powerhouse so homegrown stars can win and defend world titles at home instead of having to travel halfway across the world.”

Frank W said: “We are always looking to expand the Queensberry Promotions brand and after doing a lot of work and meeting Mariusz, Poland appealed.

“We will be signing top Polish amateurs who we can build and make them into champions of tomorrow.

“Queensberry has a track record of doing that and I believe we can lift Polish boxing to an all-time high over the next few years.

“I am sure that when young Polish boxers meet Mariusz and Francis they will know their careers are in good hands.

“We will also help get the boxers exposure on British shows and some of our fighters based here can go across to Poland and gain invaluable experience.”

News of the inaugural Queensberry Poland show and broadcasting arrangements will be announced shortly.

Hope it goes better than Matchroom Italy and Matchroom Germany. Both dissolved.

Companies House showing both dissolved. The Matchroom Italy show I watched looked to be pretty quiet. Guess it doesn't work as a concept.

Poland isn't a bad country for boxing though.

It wasn't even nearly popular in Italy.

There have been hardly any shows of late full stop with what’s happening.

Couldn't really understand Matchroom Italy / Spain- it just seemed to be really about getting UK fighters European title fights - perhaps it was actually cheaper to run it in Italy / Span than the UK. It didn't seem to be about getting Italian fighters some exposure - and those that did, felt like the away fighter.

I think Poland is a great country for this type of venture - much more passionate about boxing, more boxers and more boxers willing to travel etc - whilst they are denying it, it feels like almost a "feeder" system. Develop some stars and then let them do an Adamek etc and fight in the US - cos they will have a following in the US.

Definately one of the better European countries to invest into for boxing.

Frank/Sky and their backward thinking missed out on so many quality eastern European fighters in the late 90s and 00s with the mindset that viewers only wanted to watch British fighters.

He could have easily signed the likes of GGG, Valuev, Chagaev, not to mention many more European title level quality fighters who were based in UK at that time but didn’t get a look in.

Many Polish fighters could sell here if built.

Hearn has 2 Italy....1 Spain and 1 Germany to announce unless DAZN meeting the costs as part of their local coverage in each country.

Michael Fafera has a big following here but most are English! He does attract the Polish community, too, as his late father sold a lot of tickets to them. Mike was very young when he came over but is completely bi-lingual.

Hennessy would do Kinshasa himself - will be part of his ‘Shades of Ali’ series.

Hennessy Addis Ababa’s first show was announced to be hosted at Glow, Bluewater.

Russian Standouts Kovalchuk, Sharifov Sign With Queensberry Poland

True to its word, Queensberry Poland has hit the ground running in scooping up blue chip prospects.

The newly formed promotional company–headed by Mariusz Krawczynski and Francis Warren—has signed a pair of Russian amateur stars in Andrey Kovalchuk and Alisa Sharifov to promotional pacts. Both will make their respective pro debuts under the QP Poland banner later this fall.

Kovalchuk and Sharifov will also fight under the guidance of co-managers Max Alperovich and Eduard Kravtsov of Premier Management Group. Given the rich amateur pedigree boasted by both boxers, the plan is to not waste any time in advancing to the sport's highest stage.

We are thrilled to work with QP Poland to usher Andrey and Alisa into the pro ranks this fall," Alperovich said of the forthcoming venture. "Both fighters are tremendous talents with fan friendly styles.

"Our hope is to put them in a position to contend for a world title in the next 2-3 years."

Kovalchuk leaves behind a brilliant amateur where he boasts a 392-34 record. The 27-year old from Priobye, Russia was a two-time Russian National Champion and a two-time Gold medalist in the prestigious World Cup of Petroleum Countries international tournaments.

Known as a pure boxer-puncher, Kovalchuk will campaign in the junior middleweight division.

Sharifov is only slightly less credentialed but whose pressure style figures to be a natural fight for the pro ranks. The 24-year old—who also hails from Priobye—claimed a Gold medal in the 2018 World Championships and a Silver medal during the World Cup of Petroleum Countries tournament that same year.

Both come part of a brilliant amateur run where Sharifov enjoyed a 277-19 record. His forthcoming pro campaign will come in the lightweight division.

The dynamic duo from Russia joins a growing stable of young talent which includes a pair of Polish amateur standouts in cruiserweight Michael Soczynski and heavyweight sensation Kamil Mroczkowski. All factor into early stage plans to establish Poland as a boxing hotspot.

“We are always looking to expand the Queensberry Promotions brand and after doing a lot of work and meeting Mariusz, Poland appealed," notes Francis Warren. “We will be signing top Polish amateurs who we can build and make them into champions of tomorrow.
