I remember this time last year, Matchroom bombarded us with PPV's in the winter time too.

Well it was from July, we had

Whyte vs. Rivas

Loma vs. Campbell

Taylor vs. Prograis (WBSS)

KSI vs. Logan Paul

Ruiz vs. Joshua 2

Whyte Povetkin first time around was not a PPV, was a very good co-main event type and chief support. Due to the way it ended, it's obviously going to headline a PPV.

Thing with Usyk vs. Chisora, this is never a PPV.

I think Whyte is done as a PPV. Never thought he ever was.

Whyte v Povetkin is the most even fight but I’d not pay for it as a PPV, as I didn’t with the first one.

Chisora v Usyk is a million miles away from PPV worthy - irrespective of the undercard

Joshua will bulldoze Pulev - so hardly worth spending money on either.

For £20 they are all trash headline fights

None of them should be ppvs

Now if you put them 3 fights on one card.. Now THAT's PPV!

The thing with Joshua is, he has a casual fanbase.. people that will just watch boxing , because AJ is fighting.. Probably half of his buys are from casual fans, depending on who he is fighting.

Pulev is well past his best but like PEDvetkin could well catch his man.

It would be a reasonable PPV if it was all 1 event.

The kind of card that was a PPV showcase 5-10+ years back.

Nowadays mediocre calibre fighters like Whyte think of themselves as box office and command mad purses.

Haven't you heard? Despite setting the uk ppv record his last fight (8x the whyte-pov number), apparently no one cares about AJ any more

The lockdown and measures in place probably helped! People been deprived of their outtings and booze ups. So an opportunity for a Matchroom card to get the lads round for beers was probably appealing.

Whyte-Rivas was a good PPV. Especially after Whyte was cleared to fight.

Back in the day it was only earnest boxing nerds who bought PPVs, to silently appreciate the skills on offer, whilst lovingly filling in their scorecards.

Alternatively, take out the COVID stuff and and the price, and it was the mostly the same type of audience back then.

Hardcore boxing fan aren't, and never were, the fan base for PPVs.

Dave Allen v Hughie Fury is lined up for Whyte card.

With no fans likely or small numbers - 3 PPV generate enough £££ for them and Sky to put on larger cards/pay fighters to cover boxing until the end of the year.

1 Sat night fight card (Sep/Oct/Nov/Dec) and 1 next gen card for end of year plus 3 PPV.

Eddie Hearn reveals potential fall lineup

After the success of Fight Camp, Eddie Hearn has some ambitious plans for the rest of the year. Speaking to ESPN yesterday, he laid out the potential lineup for the last three months of 2020, expanding upon earlier reporting from ESPN Deportes.

The most notable news concerns Anthony Joshua vs. Kubrat Pulev, which now has a working date of December 12th at London’s O2 Arena.

“We’re still looking at alternative options with team Pulev,” Hearn told ESPN, “but we are focusing on that date, and we hope to finalize everything in the next week.”

Hearn hopes to have a live audience, and has applied for a September 27th “test event” featuring Joshua Buatsi that would allow “2,000 to 3,000 spectators.”

As far as Oleksandr Usyk vs. Dereck Chisora, another waylaid fight, Hearn hopes to stage it on October 31st but remains in negotiations, as the original offer was made with the expectation of a massive live gate. Alexander Povetkin vs. Dillian Whyte 2 could land on “Nov. 14 or 21 in London.”

As previously revealed, Roman Gonzalez and Juan Francisco Estrada will share an October card with the expectation that they meet in a unification rematch earlier next year. Julio Cesar Martinez, who was slated to defend his title against McWilliams Arroyo last month before withdrawing with a throat infection, will join as well.
