Eddie gone AWOL ? What's happening with Matchroom nothing since Dillan Whyte fight in August , a blank September & 2 arena shows planned for October but no news on undercards or publicity for theses shows which is very strange for Eddie ?

Presumably Sky arent willing to fund any more behind closed doors events, so it's either PPV or wait for a paying gate.

I was thinking the same.

They were meant to have a U.K. show late September with Buatsi headlining but that’s been quiet for a few weeks. I read something that it’s being pushed back to October and he’s fighting Marco Calic. Calic isn’t bad but it’s a poor headliner for a show.

I think they were planning to start having spectators back at the shows - even at something like 10-20% capacity so I’d guess they’re negotiating that which is probably causing the delay. Still not great though if you chiefly subscribe to Sky Sports for boxing.

FW is putting on some poor fights (and some decent ones too) but at least he’s putting shows on TV.

Eddie also announced a couple of weeks back that he was going to announce Whyte vs Povetkin 2 last week - no sign of that.

Also no sign of any US shows. We know DAZN are struggling at the moment with all of the Canelo stuff but with all of the TV networks having full schedules to the end of the year, it’s not a great sign for Matchroom USA/DAZN.

I thought that Fight Camp shows were great and enjoyed each of them but it’s disappointing how quiet things have been since.

wasnt the plan for him and old fisheyes to sit down and work out a multi fight scenario
: matchroom vs Queensbury on a more domestic level to try and increase the number of fights in the next few months .

Probably a bit harder for him now the Prem is back on, Sky are not begging for sports content anymore. Also, they thought they were having fans soon, but judging by how thats tracking they are not going to have fans this year. And then boxing is always dead jan feb because people dont wanna be in camp for chrissy.

Eddie has big decissions to make, because either they run a shit schedule, Or he has to suck it up and run at a loss for the next 6 months but then hope it keeps you in a good spot to start making cash once its back to normal.

What a punch , tex book , i can sit and watch that for ages ,, In fact i did , absolutly love the way he positions his feet to set it up ,, would'nt be so quick to jump into a rematch if i was Whyte , i'm sure he has some more where that came from , if he survives the early rnds

Love it, and not only cus it was Whyte on the other end of it.

Povetkin did't look like a guy who had just been dropped the round before.

He's announced an Autum schedule.

Povetkin vs Whyte 2 ends the autumn schedule on Sky, featuring world title fights, Joshua Buatsi and WBSS final

Yeah - the Buatsi card is underwhelming although Calic should at least bring ambition into the fight.

Ritson vs Vasquez is a good fight and I don’t mind Marshall vs Rankin but needs a few more decent fights on there.

Good they’ve got the cruiserweight WBSS on Sky and I’ll watch Whyte vs Povetkin 2 aslong as the undercard is pretty good.

Hearn’s got a lot of fighters though with still no fights planned and didn’t fight over the summer: Billy Joe, Callum Smith, Liam Smith, Kell Brook (although there’s talk of him against Crawford), Josh Warrington, Josh Kelly, Benn, Dave Allen, Bakole, Cordina, Hughie Fury, Galahad, Callum Johnson, Okolie, Martin Ward, John Ryder and more.

I’m sure some of these will fight on either Whyte or AJ’s undercards but I think he’s a couple of shows short if these are all he’s planning to the end of November.

Also surprised there’s still no word on Chisora vs Usyk?! Would be tough to squeeze another PPV in between the Whyte and AJ shows.

Now if the card was:

Povetkin vs. Whyte II
Briedis vs. Dorticos
Ritson vs. Vazquez
Buatsi vs. Calic
Marshall vs Rankin

Now that's just about PPV.

It doesn't look like any fans are going to be allowed in anytime soon so I wonder if Eddie's back garden has heaters ?

2 Sat night cards in Oct and PPV in Nov isn’t offering Boxing Subscribers of Sky very much.

PPV basically paying for the other 2 - then you’ll get stung for AJ in December as well.

BT has 2 Oct/Nov/Dec - even FW offering more shows.

Yeah Eurosport level stuff, I’ve hardly heard of any of them, plus his PPV “extravaganza“ which is basically him repeating a fight no-one cares about, endlessly, until his man finally manages to beat the ancient Russian.
