Three Fall Matchroom USA Cards on DAZN in Works; Jacobs, Haney, Chocolatito
While Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn formally announced a slate of fall fights that will take place in the United Kingdom, including the Alexander Povetkin-Dillian Whyte heavyweight rematch on Nov. 21, the schedule for his Matchroom Boxing USA remains a work in progress.
However, multiple sources told Boxing Scene that there are three cards in the works that would stream on DAZN -- one in October and two in November -- as follow-ups to the one card Matchroom USA has put on since boxing returned during the coronavirus pandemic.
The next show is penciled in for Thanksgiving weekend, either Nov. 27 or Nov. 28, and will be headlined by former middleweight world titlist Daniel Jacobs (36-3, 30 KOs), 33, of Brooklyn, New York, the sources said. Jacobs, who is now fighting at super middleweight, is coming off making Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. quit after the fifth round in December.
Jacobs does not have a set opponent but the discussion centers around a pair of former world title challengers, per sources: Gabriel Rosado (25-12-1, 14 KOs), 34, of Philadelphia, who was on standby to fill in for Chavez in case there was an issue and wound up instead winning on the undercard, and England’s John Ryder (28-5, 16 KOs), 32, who is coming off a controversial decision loss challenging super middleweight titlist Callum Smith last November.
According to the sources, DAZN prefers Ryder because it plans to launch the streaming service in England later in the year and would like to see Jacobs against a British opponent.
Middleweight world titlist Demetrius Andrade (29-0, 18 KOs), of Providence, Rhode Island, who retained his title by ninth-round knockout of Luke Keeler on DAZN’s Jan. 30 card in Miami, could also appear on the card in a nontitle bout. However, there is also discussion of Andrade being on the Nov. 7 show instead, sources said.
Another bout being penciled in for the Jacobs card, according to sources, would see unified junior featherweight titlist Murodjon Akhmadaliev (8-0, 6 KOs), 25, the Uzbekistan native fighting out of Indio, California, defend the belts he won from Daniel Roman on Jan. 30 in Miami. One potential opponent “MJ” could face is interim titleholder and mandatory challenger Ryosuke Iwasa (27-3, 17 KOs), 30, of Japan.
Matchroom prospects ticketed for the undercard include New York super middleweight Nikita “White Chocolate” Ababiy (9-0, 6 KOs); Houston middleweight Austin “Ammo” Williams (5-0, 4 KOs); and Fresno, California, featherweight Marc Castro, a standout amateur who has yet to make his professional debut.
Castro was slated to turn pro in April but the card was canceled when the coronavirus pandemic shut down the sports world. Then Castro was scheduled for his pro debut on the Tulsa card but was removed when he tested positive for Covid-19.

DAZN still want to launch in the UK this year.
I don't understand, who would have rights to the fight in the UK? DAZN or Sky Sports?
Or does that depend on where the fight takes place?

Don't know why Jacobs needs another tune up.. If it is Rosado.. Can;t believe he is only 34..
The fight against JCC Jr was a tune up in my book got a few rounds in. Why not fight someone legit?
Matchroom has got a stable of fighters..
If Andrade is fighting on the undercard why not just have Jacobs vs Andrade? Either for the WBO 160 belt of a catchweight if Jacobs can't make 160?
But then again, this is boxing, much more complicated than it needs to be.

I think Jacobs is done at 160, so I doubt a fight with Andrade is forthcoming. If Canelo’s lawsuit places him on an extended strike, we may see Jacobs vs BJS or Callum Smith instead.

Or does that depend on where the fight takes place?
Matchroom’s exclusive deal with Sky Sports, with their partnership originally commencing during August 2012, expires at the end of the current calendar year.
Eddie Hearn thinks that DAZN might only show three Matchroom US events before the year is out, but none of them have been officially announced yet. And GBP only have one event scheduled.
There’s also talk of DAZN cutting Matchroom US’s budget by as much as 40%.
DAZN don’t seem overly-enthusiastic about boxing at the moment.
If I was in Eddie’s shoes, I’d do all I could to retain Matchroom’s partnership with Sky in the UK, because that’s where the most reliable revenue stream lies, whereas DAZN’s long-term future seems uncertain.
Currently, Sky Sports and DAZN have a deal in place to share boxing content, but that might cease to exist if the streaming service invades UK territory.

Daniel Jacobs, Gabe Rosado Reach Agreement To Fight November
The long-discussed Daniel Jacobs-Gabe Rosado fight has been trash-talked into existence.
BS.com has learned that Jacobs and Rosado have agreed to terms for a super middleweight match November 27 at a site to be announced. An official announcement is imminent for Jacobs-Rosado, which will headline a card DAZN will stream in the United States and United Kingdom.
DAZN executives proposed southpaw John Ryder as an opponent for Jacobs because they’re preparing to launch their streaming service in the UK, but the two sides settled on Rosado. Philadelphia’s Rosado has campaigned for a fight against Jacobs since they both boxed on a card December 20 in Phoenix.
Rosado was on standby to box Jacobs before Jacobs beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. that night because Jacobs and his handlers weren’t convinced that Chavez would go through with that fight. Mexico’s Chavez came in 4¾ pounds over their contracted limit of 168, but Jacobs went through with their main event anyway.
Jacobs stopped Chavez (51-5-1, 33 KOs, 1 NC) after five rounds, despite Chavez’s weight advantage. The enigmatic Chavez had some success, but he declined to continue following the fifth round.
Rosado settled for out-pointing Mexican veteran Humberto Gutierrez Ochoa (33-9-2, 22 KOs) in the 10-round, walk-out bout after Jacobs beat Chavez. Talking Stick Arena, home of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns, was essentially empty when Rosado out-boxed Ochoa on his way to winning a unanimous decision.
Now, however, Rosado has secured a chance to beat Jacobs in their own main event. Jacobs (36-3, 30 KOs), a former IBF and WBA middleweight champ, will be heavily favored to defeat Rosado (25-12-1, 14 KOs, 1 NC), who is 2-3-1 in his past six fights.
Jacobs, 33, and Rosado, 34, each have fought at the super middleweight limit just once.
London’s Ryder, meanwhile, wants to face a top opponent after testing Callum Smith in his last fight, a domestic matchup last November 23 in Smith’s hometown of Liverpool. The 30-year-old Smith (27-0, 19 KOs) won comfortably on all three scorecards (117-111, 116-112, 116-112), but Smith’s unanimous-decision win was widely considered controversial.
The 32-year-old Ryder (28-5, 16 KOs) was the mandatory challenger for Smith’s WBA “super” 168-pound championship.

He haven't dodge anyone but he haven't got a solid W either or something. Either win against a contender or just give up, then again if he gets payed good for it, then a-ok. Cash is cash, and having money in the bank and also having a 25-12-1 record well... he does fell like a gatekeeper back in MW after he got whooped by GGG.

He can't dodge anyone if no one's gonna call him out..
Promoters pick him to fight their boxers, knowing he'll probably take the fight anyway, like you said, the names on his record are really good, but like you said, he hasn't had a big win.

True enough.
Good journeymen/gatekeeper contender, still thou a contender, but not at SMW thou, yet. Lets see if the fight happens, also if Gabe got like 10 to 1 shot, I still give him kudos for taking all the fights that comes his way. If he beats Jacobs, well I would be glad for him, since getting a bigger payday or people start avoiding him? Always comes to fight eitherway. Hope he gets payed.

Two and a half years ago Daniel Jacobs pretended to have never heard of Rosado, when asked to comment on some of Gabe’s criticism about poor attendances for one of his bouts.
He then admitted he understood the reason for Rosado’s trash-talking conduct, saying that Gabe’s real intention was to attract attention in order to create interest in a fight that will provide him with a decent purse.
Jacobs also claimed that
“Fans are going to crush me if I fight Gabe Rosado! It has nothing to do with him [personally].
“I’ll get into the ring with the guy… but it’s not a fight I would gain respect from the fans,
“He’s a gatekeeper! And he knows his place.
“I’m a businessman when it comes to this boxing thing. As far as making the right moves… picking the hardest fights that the fans respect for the most amount of money.
“And Gabe Rosado doesn’t even come into the conversation.”
And Rosado’s only victory since the date of the above interview transcript came against a journeyman!
I’ve always hated this fight, even though it’s been in the works for years! It’s a horrible mismatch.

Jacobs is top 5 in SMW for now, needs to fight somebody else, still give kudos for Gabe for taking it. He is gonna get whooped.

We’re living in weird times…
• Two and a half years ago Daniel Jacobs claimed that fans would crush him if he fought a gatekeeper like Gabriel Rosado, but that bout is taking place later on this year.
• Last year Bob Arum stated that Kell Brook meant nothing anymore and wouldn’t be facing Terence Crawford. But the past-his-prime inactive Brit is the American’s next opponent.
• And in 2017, Manny Pacquiao criticised Floy Mayweather for facing Connor McGregor, but it seems the Filipino has had a recent change of heart, because he now wants to face the Irishman, as long as he co-promotes their bout.
