Fans have had enough of being rinsed. Matchroom FC have failed to create stars, and having a PPV in a pandemic was selfish, stupid and deserved to bomb.
Also Joshua isn't a big enough star to carry a PPV outside of a suitable time, but has got the casual fan base. Bellew also connected with fans much better than expected

Non of these figures are accurate. The true buys are below these numbers.
Hate-Bellew 1 did around 890k.. And the rematch did less as well.
Hearn said so himself. It did not break 1m. If it did he would have said 1m.
These figures are viewership numbers.
So if someone bought the fight, you get to view the event for a few days I believe on box office. So if people are watching highlights, it adds to these figures.

Absolutely! It's high time some of the overly cosetted (so called) boxing superstars realised that things have changed.
And not just for us schmucks (fans) living in Nowheresville. If they don't want to get it, they can move over and go take a hike taking their insulting financial demands with them.
There's tons of great fighters ready and willing to step up and replace them for more realistic wages.

Where did they source the figures from as it isn't clear where the figures have been pulled from in the article?
If it's Barb then the figures don't reflect PPV buys at all. Barb doesn't measure viewers in a commercial setting i.e. Pubs, clubs, bars, casinos etc... It costs a pub around £200 to show a Box Office event. Commercial PPV buys are a big money maker for SKY.
Also Barb will pick up views of the channel that don't relate to actual PPV buys such as someone tuning in to watch the first hour of the PPV show that tends to be broadcast unencrypted. They've watched the channel on the night of the fight but didn't actually buy the PPV.

I don’t know how precise WBN’s viewing figures are, but I found another WBN article (citing the same numbers), which claimed the figures were based on the estimates from the Broadcasters Audience Research Board (BARB) website.
I also tried verifying the figures using other websites, but most of them cited WBN as their source. So they were reporting the same numbers.
TalkSport does cite lower PPV figures than WBN, but they unfortunately admit the source of their data was taken from The Sun.
Regardless, even if WBN’s figures seem optimistically high, I strongly suspect the declining trajectory of the trend for the PPV buy-rate in the UK is a realistically accurate claim to make.
And the reason for the UK market being less inclined to pay to watch boxing is my main concern.

It was reported that Ruiz-AJ 2 was a UK PPV record, if the numbers above are right then I guess it wasn't in total buys! Maybe overall pounds?

Then another article came out saying it actually did lower than AJ-Wlad but only by a smidge.

The fact is I already pay more than I should for my TV satellite packages, and much to my annoyance everything is extra above and beyond the normal programmes. You want "HD" it's extra. You want to record more than one programme at a time, it's extra. You want to be able to access catch up/demand, that's extra.
Sky, BT, Netflix, Amazon etc etc, just charge too much; so when they then ask me to fork out another £20-£40 to watch a PPV, where a couple of very ordinary fighters will probably disappoint me, then I generally don't buy it.

perhaps there could be a correlation between the decline in UK ppv and the rise in alternative viewing options available online .
if the broadcasters made it better value then would more people take it up ?
personally I dont want it at £20 or more plus a regular sky subscription for a whole load of stuff I would never watch like films I saw 4 years ago !

Yeh, pretty sure if Fury-Wilder was primetime UK, it would have done much better.
For daft o'clock, the figures were not bad. I think there was some saying the rematch did better numbers.
