At 175 in a one off Ward beats Hill by UD.
Ward was a super smart boxer and well tuned all around.
Seen Virgil many times back in the day and he had a good run, he fought a lot of good fighters, definitely respected.
However, Ward fought a Kovalev in the first fight who was 100% ready to go and a serious threat, the top two Light Heavyweight's in the division at that time were red hot.
Perhaps it could be put in context by Larry Merchant upon Virgil Hills entrance into the ring against Roy Jones Jr,
Hill ..."Likes his privacy a lot, and of course if you want to be private there's no better place to hide out than in the Light Heavyweight division".
Hopefully that gives you an indication of the differences between the divisions during both boxers long or short reigns.
