Of course, Monzon wins- but what type of a fight does Duran give him?

Monzon would outbox Duran pretty wide.

King Carlos wins by knockout in 11. Too strong and too big for The Hands of Stone.

At middleweight Carlos Monzon who is one of the greatest middleweights of all time wins a convincing decision. Duran is a better overall boxer however Monzon is a superior middleweight and that is the difference. Monzon wins hands down.

Not seeing the monzon stoppage. About the same as hagler. 10-5ish decision, Duran's counter right would cause concern.

It would be like Bennie Briscoe 2....Duran would have his (great) moments but those would be isolated and so Monzon would cruise to a comfortable UD.

"King" Carlos by decision after out-boxing the great Hands of Stones behind his jabs and countering him with sharp combinations from long range without giving Duran any space.

Because Monzon was considerably better than Hagler....he would have a considerably easier time with Duran than Hagler did.
It would not be close.
I would not predict a knockout....though Monzon was as hard a hitter as Tommy Hearns and perhaps more accurate....he was not as fast or better to say "unexpectedly, unpredictably explosive"....So Duran would see or at least sense the incoming...and likely avoid a KO....unless it was one of attrition vs an early abrupt sparking.
