Mike Tyson on Good Morning Britain

Iron Mike was interviewed on British TV this morning and suffice to say, it was a car crash.
Was he drunk, high or on sedatives?

Yeah, something's up there. Have never heard him sound like that.Syntax Error wrote: ↑13 Oct 2020, 18:05 Iron Mike was interviewed on British TV this morning and suffice to say, it was a car crash.

I strongly suspect that those that mocked me almost three years ago for picking up on Tyson's slurred speech were simply fans of his living in denial.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 10:59I've watched several recent videos of Mike Tyson being interviewed where his speech was slurring, possessing a 'blank' expression on his face and he also seemed slow articulating answers to the questions being posed.
It’s truly sad if he is, because the contrast between how he talks now in comparison to when he used to eloquently present the popular one-man “Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth” show five years ago is really staggering.

Ali never fought Greg Page.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020, 09:18 I've also seen a video from 1980 of Muhammad Ali being interviewed before the Greg Page fight. And his mental faculties had clearly declined back then. His speech was slow, and he struggled to convey his thoughts.
Yeah sorry, I should have said Trevor Berbick. My point remains valid though. The Gratest wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020, 09:22Ali never fought Greg Page.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020, 09:18 I've also seen a video from 1980 of Muhammad Ali being interviewed before the Greg Page fight. Muhammad Ali was in a terrible state and should never have been granted a boxing license for that fight.
I surmised that he might be drunk, but the medication theory is a plausible one too.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020, 11:44 Is he still on meds?
Could be that.
If not hes drunk as fcuk.
I know that being stoned doesn't make you sound like that - I reckon if anything he sounds really really drunk.Syntax Error wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020, 12:34I surmised that he might be drunk, but the medication theory is a plausible one too.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020, 11:44 Is he still on meds?

I don't buy tiredness angle; he's 54 and physically fit; such people don't tend to fall asleep during 90 second interviews purely down to being tired.
To be fair, he bowed his head as if nodding off, but he probably didn't fall completely asleep.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020, 12:36I know that being stoned doesn't make you sound like that - I reckon if anything he sounds really really drunk.Syntax Error wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020, 12:34I surmised that he might be drunk, but the medication theory is a plausible one too.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020, 11:44 Is he still on meds?

Did he actually fall asleep? Is that why it ended suddently?
I've seen Tyson speak recently, and he sounded absolutely fine, so before you pronounce yourself some sort of authority on anything at all, let's just pause shall we?Enlightened-One wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020, 09:18 James Toney slurred his words rather badly before he entered the Prize Fighter contest in the UK, despite him clearing suffering from Dementia pugilistica.

So Tyson may be suffering from the same or a similar condition as those guys.
I’m not saying Mike’s definitely ill, because no one knows for sure (other than himself and family members), but the alarm bells should be ringing whenever you see any veteran fighter slurring their words. He's been caught struggling to speak since 2017. The Good Morning Britain interview isn't the first time this has happened.
And what’s really scary, is in the case of Toney and Ali, both guys were allowed to compete, regardless of their struggles to articulate their thoughts.
And living such a lifestyle can cause permanent brain damage, when coupled with his chosen profession.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020, 12:49I've seen Tyson speak recently, and he sounded absolutely fine, so before you pronounce yourself some sort of authority on anything at all, let's just pause shall we?Enlightened-One wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020, 09:18 James Toney slurred his words rather badly before he entered the Prize Fighter contest in the UK, despite him clearing suffering from Dementia pugilistica.

Tyson has long documented problems with alcohol, cocaine and weed, and has also been on and off medications for depression for many years.

There are also videos from 2017 onwards showing Tyson struggling to string a sentence together in a coherent manner.
And I posted one earlier on in this thread.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want Tyson to have some sort of illness, but let’s not pretend that it’s extremely rare for former boxers suffering speech problems during later life.
Compare the version of Tyson in your Joe Rogan interview to how he eloquently presented the popular one-man “Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth” show eight years ago.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020, 13:32Enlightened-One wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020, 13:24And liviCng such a lifestyle can cause permanent brain damage, when coupled with his chosen profession.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020, 12:49

This is september this year. He sounds perfectly lucid, coherent, and despite his usual draw, totally comprehensible.
Let's talk about the case in hand.
Anyway, I'm not going to bother responding to anything else, as you are well known to hammer on endlessly labouring a point in an effort to prove you have special insight into things that others lack.
It seems quite bizarre that he wasn't screened tested before being put live on air.Evander wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020, 01:42 Got to think they screened him prior to putting him live on the air.
Is it hype ?
All these SHORT clips of him throwing wild punches while training, medium to low level hype I'd say.
The announcement of Jones v Tyson was always going to get headlines wasn't it.
It's been off the boil ever since then.
