So, who do we think will be the first champion of this new division. It will likely weaken the HW division if it does get going. Although most think it's not a great idea, some fighters will be in a position to benefit from it. So who do we think will be the first champ?

Just chucked a few of the top CWs and top lighter HWs into the list. There's a few others that might also get involved though.

I don't know who the Champion will be at this weight class, but I know who won't be watching him.

The only thing that can possibly happen, and even that might not help, but it'd take someone like Tyson Fury refusing to acknowledge the WBC Title any further. Dropping his title. Proclaiming I AM THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION

Ignoring the title of "Super Heavyweight" and just continuing to press forward in the sports great tradition. No belt needed.

If he goes along with it. The rest of the orgs will follow, and the sport will be that much more of a fraction of what it once was.

Fury can make the transition here from once being one of my most hated Boxers to possibly being Boxing's savior. I don't have a lot of confidence he will, but I sure hope he does.

He's one of the biggest stars in the sport right now, and if he refuses to go along with this, and mocks it. It would go a long way in Pundits, Commentators and the Boxing World at large doing the same.

That wouldn't do a thing. Fury will probably like being called super heavy anyway.

That division is basically for heavyweights that admit to themselves they cant beat fury. Its kinda pathetic honestly.

225 is huge, just going down the heavyweight rankings, Id say, Wilder, AJ, Pov, Usyk, Hunter, Ortiz, Could all quite comfortably make 225lb. Thats 6/10 of the boxrecs top 10. Its also where all 4 belts have been for the majority of the last 5 years.

Of those Hunter and usyk, and probably wilder and Pov, can/could make 200lb but chose to campaign in the premier division, So why split that premier division in half.

AJ couldn't make that weight. Nor does he have to move down. He was at his lowest possible at 237 without taking off muscle.

He could absolutely make it. He made 237 without weight cutting. A guy his size can cut 20 pounds easy.

Nah he'd be fine. Jon Jones has spent his entire UFC career dropping ~20 pounds for weigh-ins and he's widely considered the best fighter the sport has ever seen.

Theoretically he could compete in both weight classes simultaneously. Yet another reason why adding this weight class is dumb.

Different athletes; different circumstances. AJ is always a very low body fat. Jones is 2 inches shorter and not built as huge as AJ. Also I don't remember seeing Jones all cut up and 240 lbs.

I doubt you'll ever see a particularly nimble or fast fighter at over 230 pounds.

Holyfield and Tyson were on average more exciting in 1 fight than 5 or 6 fights of today's Super Heavyweights.

Jones makes 205 though, not 225. If anything it should be easier for AJ to drop 15 pounds for weigh-in.

This is BS. Any encroaching on the Heavyweight division is bad business.
Next there will be a division above 280 & HW will not be the big prize.
There will be no big prize. All boxing had left was tradition. This will kill it.

224 is just a No Tyson Fury division. Everyone else can lose some weight and make weight. 210 should have been the weight limit.

The first title match will be Wilder vs someone, that's for sure.
