Amir Khan & The ABA's

I assume this means Khan is off the upcoming M.E.N. bill?
Amir Khan will return to the ring next month when he makes his senior Amateur Boxing Association Championships debut.
The Olympic silver medallist will take on Salford's Liam Dorian in the Manchester area's divisionals at Preston Guild Hall on February 7.
Hopefully the BBC will do a good job of screening the event, also at a reasonable hour as it is on a Monday and most people have work the next day.

Dont know mate,,he aint in boxing news top 10 4 nations ratings....
he should be fighting the other 9 in the division in britain,, Number 2 is the classy Mark Hastie, which i discussed on another thread shud be khans nxt opponent,, just depends on whether hastie can make the weight,

These tornaments will all be good for him though, he will do better when he is more used to fighting stronger opponents in the seniour ranks and although he is probably a class above many of them he has only had about 14(?) snr fights. I think the ABA will be worth more than some ameture bout for a FW undercard.

I was talking about the opponent mate , liam was it?? saying i cant see him in the ratings anywhere,, so why isnt khan fighting someone in the top 10 in britain in his weight,,,
Yes Khan is rated number one amature in britain at 60kg, mark hastie is second as he is current four antion champ

Got it now, where is Khan ranked in the 4 nations ratings.... Number 1?, surely.

liam dorrian is ranked about no 7 in the english rankings
he got to the semis of the aba's last year & also won the under 20 bout novices, so he has proberly had about 35 fights
'If' this happens i cant see it going 1 round, Liam has weighed in for the aba's, it doesnt mean he will actually fight, he may have weighed in on the off chance that amir either didnt enter or would enter at a higher weight

Khan cant fight Hastie as he has to fight divisionals first in the ABA's. You dont just face off against the #2.

Hastie is scottish so wont be in the ABAs... so it will be him v Khan in the 4 nations possibly, assuming Khan stays AM, Hastie can make weight and neither get beat on the way :-)

The chances of Amir Khan going for Olympic gold in Beijing seem to have disappeared. Nor is it now likely he will compete in this year's World Amateur Championships or face his Cuban Olympic conqueror, Mario Kindelan, in a rematch. Instead, he is set to turn professional this spring.
But who with? The most probable scenario would see him joining Britain's top promoter, allegedly, and making his paid debut on the Kostya Tszyu-Ricky Hatton world light-welterweight title bill on 5 June, which could be in his home town, Bolton, at the Reebok Stadium. Amir boxes in the ABA Divisional Championships in Preston on 7 February and is scheduled to appear four days later on Warren's inaugural pro-am bill at the Olympic light-weight silver medallist.

However, I understand that Amir and his growing entourage of advisers are also considering an astonishing and head-turning offer of £2 million from another promoter, the relatively unknown Robert Waterman.
Waterman, a Londoner who manages the undefeated Russian-Israeli heavyweight prospect Roman Greenberg, previously has promoted mainly at small halls yet apparently is hopeful of securing a terrestrial TV contract for Amir with BBC or ITV. But Warren's proven track record and the backing of Sky and his Sports Network organisation must put him in the driving seat for the much-sought-after signature of the 18-year-old

Mark Hastie Through To Norway Box Cup Finals
Forgewood's Mark Hastie is through to the 64kg final at the Norway Box Cup tournament being held in Oslo this weekend.
He outpointed Norwegian Fahrad Amaru this afternoon to claim his place in tomorrow's final where he'll meet Denmark's Kenneth Nemming.
Dont think hastie will be able to fight Khan anymore to see who best in britain ia as hes now more comfarble at 64kg hes in norway at moment,
Not sure about khan???? maybe he should go pro its a hard one to call but whatever happens i wanna c it,, so bbc would be great

It's Gold For Mark Hastie In Norway
Mark Hastie has won gold at the Norway Box Cup after successfully stepping up into the 64kg Light Welterweight category.
Hastie, who is the reigning 60kg Scottish Champion as well as the Four Nations Lightweight Champion, beat his Danish opponent, Kenneth Nemming, by a single point, winning 16-15.
