I remember some years ago, somebody on these forums posted a video of a Wladimir Klitschko fight which had been produced in black and white and then edited to look as though frames had been cut from it.
The reason was to make it look like film from the 1910/1920’s, to demonstrate that fighters from that era could look bad on film but could have been better in real life.
Does anyone else remember this and/or have the link please?

I was reading the other week of some old time fighter, an opponent of Abe Attell's I think, who as an old geezer had been shown film by Cayton and Jacobs of Johnson, Jeffries, Fitzsimmons et al in action. He refused to believe the men on the shaky reels were the men he had seen fight in the flesh. They moved nothing like the three-dimensional versions, and he was convinced they were bums who had been mistakenly credited as the great fighters. It seems obvious that the limitations of the technology then has deprived us of a real sense of the fighting style of that period.

I remember in the 80s or 90s taking a Tyson fight and copying it over and over to see the effect it had on the footage. It was amazing how unreal it looked by about the tenth version.

I dunno either but it sounds like they may have been inspired by this 1978 movie to do it ?

This was the gist of the film, it was speeded up, edited to look like frames were missing, and edited to be in black and white. And Klitschko did look poor on this "new" film.

I could imagine Wladimir's style looking particularly comical and awful when subjected to that effect.
