Looking for my Grandfather's Boxing Record

Hello All,

I am new to the forum, and have registered in hopes of finding some information on my Grandfather's boxing record.

Here is what I know:

1. His real name from Frank Dominick Zangari, born September 11, 1915 and died on September 12, 2005.

2. He boxed under an alias (but I have no idea what it was) during The Great Depression (Amateur and Professional), and was a Flyweight who was once the Florida State Champ.

3. He had been friends with Joe Louis before segregation because he didn't care what color your skin was.

I am including his obituary and the only newspaper article I was ever able to find about my Grandfather's boxing career.

If anyone could help me shine some light on any of this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Vince

Vince, a real conundrum. I was hoping that piece below the obit would yield some results but I could find no fighter named Pink Lamais or a manager named Leon Main in the database. Lou Salica is a very well known name but I looked over Salica's record prior to when the piece was written in june of '35, but did not see anywhere that Salica would have fought in Wilmington, Del. Perhaps he fought these fighters as an amateur, since he would have only been about 20 when the piece was written on him. Anything else you might have would be helpful.
