BRAD FOSTER will face Jason Cunningham for the British, Commonwealth and European Super-Bantamweight titles at Utlilita Arena, Birmingham on Saturday August 28, live on BT Sport.

Their eagerly awaited triple title showdown heads a stunning night of action that includes two further British championship contests.

Other big names on the blockbuster bill includes Anthony Yarde and boxing’s biggest ticket seller Nathan Heaney.

British and Commonwealth champion Foster’s promoters Queensberry wiped out their rivals when purse bids were ordered for the showdown against European title holder Cunningham (29-6, 6KOs).

Foster (14-0-2, 5 KOs) lives close to the venue in Lichfield and promoter allegedly is backing his legion of fans to roar him on

Warren said: “It is one of the most evenly matched fights anywhere this year, but we want to give Brad every advantage.

“The bill is outstanding and a big local crowd could be the difference come fight night. What a fight it will be.

“I expected Brad to be facing Gamal Yafai, but Jason was exceptional when he beat him. Brad has been in fantastic form since he signed with Queensberry and it’s hard to believe he’s only 23.”

Doncaster southpaw Cunningham caused a huge upset when he snatched the European crown from Yafai in May.

Foster last fought in March when he scored a shut out points win against Alvaro Rodriguez to pick up the vacant IBF International belt.

Former World Light-Heavyweight title challenger Yarde (20-2, 19 KOs) has a warm-up ahead of his likely rematch against Commonwealth champion Lyndon Arthur, who controversially outpointed him last December.

Akeem Ennis-Brown (14-0, 1 KO) will risk his British and Commonwealth Super-Lightweight championships against Liverpool’s former amateur superstar Sam Maxwell (15-0, 11 KOs).

The Gloucester man hasn’t boxed since winning his title in a points win against Philip Bowes last September.

He had been due to face Maxwell in March, but was injured and his challenger had to be content with a points win against late sub Ben Fields.

Belfast’s Anthony Cacace (18-1, 7 KOs) will finally get to defend his British Super-Featherweight crown against Lyon Woodstock (12-2, 5 KOs).

Injuries and illness has prevented the fight taking place since it was first scheduled last August, and it promises to be a cracking 12 rounder.

In a fourth title fight Telford’s Liam Davies (9-0, 4 KOs) will make his first defence of the English Bantamweight title he won so impressively against Sean Cairns last November.

Warren added: “Ennis-Brown v Maxwell and Cacace v Woodstock fights promise and will deliver excitement for those lucky enough to be there and BT Sport viewers.

“This is a card that no one can have any complaints about.”

Stoke Middleweight Heaney(12-0, 4 KOs) will have his raucous army behind him when he boxes a ten rounder in his third fight under the Queensberry banner.

Warren hopes that next summer, Heaney will be fighting on an open air show at the bet365 Stadium, home of his beloved Stoke City.

Northampton Super-Lightweight Eithan James (5-0) will box a six rounder on the bill.

Dublin’s Willo Hayden a training partner of Conor McGregor makes his professional debut in a four round Super-Lightweight contest.

Also in four round action is Nottingham Light-Heavyweight Ezra Taylor (1-0, 1 KO) and Telford debutant Super-Lightweight Macauley Owen.

Anthony Cacace gets new Woodstock date – ‘Apache’ to defend his title on Frampton Herring card?

Anthony Cacace will finally trade leather with Leon Woodstock in January.

Frank W has confirmed ‘The Apache’ will make the first defence of his British title on a BT Sports card in the first month of next year.

Cacace [18(7)-1(0)] was set to defend his British super featherweight crown against Woodstock [12(5)-2(0)] on a BT Sports broadcast allegedly promoted clash early last month, but the clash was called off on fight week.

It’s was second time the fight has been pushed back. The 31-year-old was initially penciled in to fight his promotional stablemate on the top of a TV bill in July only for a dental issue to force that postponement.

It’s proved a frustrating few months for the natural talent, but it appears 2021 will start with a high profile tv title fight.

There is faint rumour the fight will play out on the undercard of Jamel Herring’s WBO super featherweight title defence against Carl Frampton, meaning Cacace will reunite with his former Cyclone Promotions stable mate and appear on a card with big international interest.

The Belfast fighter has been told that if he continues to win he be handed a world title shot. A win over Woodstock could move him closer to a clash with #WBO 3 Archie Sharp, a fight the former Irish and BBBofC Celtic champion is confident he can win.

Why would beating Woodstock move him closer to a fight with sharp. Cacace is british champion. It should b sharp chasing him. Sharp might b ranked at 3 by the wbo but hasn't beat anyone at domestic level other than Woodstock who shouldn't be fighting for the British title on the back of a loss . Cacace and sharp should have been the fight made.

‘I just want the chance to prove it’ – Anthony Cacace

Anthony Cacace wants the opportunity to prove he is a world level fighter in 2021.

After claiming the British super featherweight title with victory over Sam Bowen in November of 2019 and signing a long term contract with allegedly, it appeared as if 2020 was going to the be ‘The Apache’s’ year.

However a number of issues prevented him from getting the chance to show why he is so widely lauded within boxing circles in Ireland.

The pandemic played a part and a scheduled defence with Leon Woodstock was twice pushed back due to an assortment of health issues.

The British title defence will play out early next year, with rumour suggesting it will play a part on the Jamel Herring v Carl Frampton card.

Cacace is confident of victory and is planning to kick on to the next level after it’s achieved.

The 31-year-old stylist is open to any fight that moves him toward a world title shot.

A clash with WBO ranked Archie Sharp would be easy to make while European champ Samir Ziani is also on the radar.

“I know I belong at world level and I just want the chance to prove it. I’ve told my team that’s what I want – fights like Archie Sharp or Samir Ziani the European champion, anybody who will take me forward to a world title shot. I want to face the best,” Cacace told the Belfast Telegraph.

Before he can size up his options, the Andersonstown fighter must first retain his Lonsdale belt.

Standing between him and progression is Woodstock, a fighter whose only two loss came to Eric Donovan defeater Zelfa Barrett and a man that got the better of Declan Geraghty in Archie Sharp.

Cacace, who is currently in camp sparring Frampton, remains confident and is targeting a performance as well as a win.

If he manages to stop the recent Commonwealth title challenger it may allow him to draw favourable comparisons with Sharp and help provide some narrative for an all-Queensbury clash.

“Woodstock is a game guy, he always puts up a tough fight so it’s up to me to be on my game and deliver a good performance so I can push on for bigger opportunities.”

He shouldn't be defending against Woodstock . Woodstock lost his last fight. Sharp should of been the fight made and its easy to make as both with Warren.

As I said before joke of a fight. Fighting for a British title coming off a loss. Wonder why Ronnie Clark has not been offered this fight?? Surely a fighter coming off a win would make sense. I don’t disagree and he will be out soon enough. However he is still coming off a win and Leon is coming off a loss.. My point is this is a very poor fight. Clark v Cacace on paper is a 50/50 this fight is a 95/5 at best. Only way to stop poor matchmaking and poor fights is to speak out.

Cacace set for first title defence on London card

ANTHONY Cacace will make his long-awaited first defence of the British super-featherweight title when he faces Leon Woodstock on the undercard of Carl Frampton’s bid to become a three-weight champion against Jamel Herring in London on February 27.

‘The Apache’ claimed the Lonsdale Belt with an impressive win over Sam Bowen in November 2019 that also helped him secure a promotional deal with Frank W’s Queensbury Promotions.



He had hoped to push on and use this platform to secure regular action and major opportunities in 2020, but a range of factors were to sabotage these ambitions.

The 31-year-old southpaw was due to defend against Woodstock in July, but an abscess on both sides of his mouth required back teeth removed and the fight was postponed until later in the year.

A subsequent gum infection would leave him unable to resume full training for a rescheduled date late last year and instead, he will finally make his first defence next month.

It was typical of a stop-start career the Lenadoon man has endured since making his pro debut in 2012, with Cacace spending much of his time on the outside looking in.

However, the win over Bowen was something of a game changer as he finally had something that other fighters wanted and he is hopeful that victory next month can pave the way to big nights in the future.

With both Cacace and Frampton in action on the same night, the West Belfast man travelled to Manchester for sparring with ‘The Jackal’ before Christmas and these rounds will have been of huge benefit to both.

Indeed, Frampton rates the skill and power of Cacace highly and said he has been ideal preparation for the Herring fight.

“I haven’t felt Jamel’s power and I’m sure because of the size of him, he can punch a bit, but I don’t believe he can punch as hard as Anto Cacace,” said the North Belfast man.

“Throughout that spar I need to be switched on because sometimes when you are sparring below yourself you can switch off and end up getting hit with shots you shouldn’t be, but against Anto you have to be switched on or he will put your lights out.”

Undercard Information

The highly anticipated British super featherweight title showdown between Anthony Cacace and Lyon Woodstock will go ahead on Saturday February 27, acting as chief support for the WBO world title clash between Jamel Herring and Carl Frampton.

Tommy Fury also returns on a packed bill that includes super-flyweight Kaisy Khademi (8-0) bidding to double his belt tally by adding the vacant IBF European to his WBO European title against Birmingham’s Ijaz Ahmed (7-2).

Stoke’s hugely popular middleweight star Nathan Heaney (10-0) takes on a tough domestic test in the shape of Ryan Oliver (7-2), with thrilling lightweight prospect Sam Noakes (4-0) going in against the unbeaten Delmar Thomas (5-0).

Three professional debuts complete the card, with ABA champion Masood Abdulah set to introduce himself over four rounds at super featherweight, Amaar Akbar at super lightweight and Adan Mohamed at super bantamweight.

Exclusively live on BT Sport, ‘The Jackal’ Carl Frampton bids to make history by becoming Ireland’s first ever three-weight world champion by parting the champion, former Marine Herring from his belt.

The night will now have a further Belfast twist with the addition of the 18-1 Cacace taking on the 12-2 Leicester man Woodstock in a collision that has won widespread approval from boxing fans.

What should be a particularly fan-friendly encounter was first due to take place during last summer’s post-lockdown series but was ultimately delayed due to Cacace being hospitalised after suffering an infection following dental surgery.

This will represent a first defence for the 32-year-old of the title he won by defeating former champion Sam Bowen in Birmingham back in November 2019.

Promoter allegedly said of his first show of the year: “We have put together a strong supporting cast for Carl’s big night where he is seeking to make history in what should be a compelling clash against Jamel Herring with the WBO world title at stake.

“We are making it an even bigger night for Belfast by adding Anthony Cacace’s first defence of his British title against Lyon Woodstock. Everybody seems to be looking forward to this one because it has the makings of a fantastic fight with both men happy to go to war.

“2021 is a year to keep Tommy Fury busy and get him the experience he needs to push on in the light heavyweight division. Boxing is what he wants to do and we will be sure to get him the right fights at the right time.

“Kaisy Khademi can really increase his stock at super flyweight by adding another ranking belt to his collection and furthering the plot of his fascinating life story. I am also looking forward to seeing Sam Noakes continuing his trail of destruction at lightweight against an unbeaten opponent, along with witnessing the professional debuts of three young fighters who come with a top amateur pedigree.”

Clarks stock has gone down after 3 years off and Zelfa getting exposed by little Kiko.

I like Cacace in this one, he has more about him, can box as well have a scrap as he showed against Bowen, Woodstock is proper tough, can take a beating and keep going, Sharp and Barrett showed the level he's at though, Cacace can bang a bit but don't think he can stop Woodstock

I think Cacace wins this comfortably. With the original main event being cancelled it’s quite a thin show now. Hopefully they won’t have any fights cancelled for Coronavirus.

Cacace wins this either wide on the cards or a late stoppage. Woodstock is a level below

Bloody hell. Why are they only getting the results now and not at the start of the week to at least allow time for a replacement of some sort?

Most other promoters and the UFC tend to have an undercard fight in the same weight division in case something like this does happen and they can still have a fairly credible main event.

Really poor start to the year from FW/BT.

Lose a title fight and there’s not a lot to fill 4 hrs of prime time TV. No wonder JN says err err before every sentence, he’s obviously padding out the time not struggling to find the vocabulary after all

There was a maximum of 5 but that was removed I think towards the end of 2020. I don’t know whether there is a maximum now.

I get the impression Matchroom are keeping the numbers of fights down to save on money but making sure the 5 fights they have are of a good standard and competitive or are debuts like with Fisher and Hatton.
