Most of the things you write looks strange to me.
Mercer getting the decision - Only in America, and he didnt even get it there.

Foreigners get the close decisions against Americans in close fights about half the time. (and the breaks from refs as well.)
Should not have got the decision against Mercer.
He should not have got the decision in the rematch against Holyfield.

He should have got the decision against Holyfield in the first fight.
The McCall fight was stopped prematurely, maybe he could have survived, and may went on to to win.
Nobody was saying Ruddock was washed up before he fought Lewis fight.

All in all, not particularly lucky or unlucky.
