Publicity stunt? Or genuine retirement?

He’s 28 years old.

Yeh, he says he’ll box on that card in a few weeks, then a few nights ago, has a ‘chat’ with his sister and decides to retire..

What’s he made in his career? £500k before fees/tax?

He’s got himself into tremendous shape to be fair to him in the last 6 months.

Been unlucky with Hammer fight falling through which he would have lost but presumably decent money.

He’ll be back soon.

Everything that is wrong with boxing. Good riddance to the attention seeker conman. Give his slot to a dedicated talented kid.

Yeh exactly. Owns a couple of those outright.. probably got one or 2 on rent, monthly income. No mortgage to pay, just maintenance of the houses.

What does he think? A comeback will push him to a PPV fight? A must see.. does he have some sort of cult following..

Fair play to him. He was never a world beater and I don't think he claimed to be. He was a limited boxer that didn't shy away from a challenge. He didn't avoid fights that he would obviously lose to keep his 0 and made a lot more money than other opponents of equal ability because he seemed fairly genuine and entertained a few with his personality. If he took his training a bit more seriously then we could've seen him perform a bit better but that's his mistake and others have done the same at a much higher level.

He’s a very average boxer who financially made the most he could through being likeable and was really well promoted.

It’s amazing how many high profile fights he had considering his ability but he brought viewers to shows.

Heavyweights are an entitled bunch generally .. seldom put in the kind of work the lower weight categories have to put in but get multiple times the remuneration.

Not bad house for a first time buyer. £60k, what more does a young couple want? You will have the mortgage paid off in less than 15 years of you wanted to stay there.

It would be great to live somewhere that has affordable houses.

In my area the that same kind of house would cost you about £135k and in London about £200k depending on the area.

Yeah I think, for example, his various videos on IFLTV did him some favours and helped build him a following.

He crafted a 'likeable but down on my luck, with a few problems/demons to overcome' persona, which is one British fight fans tend to buy into.

Hearn could then sell that story as something for his undercards.

I was never quite sure if his persona was entirely genuine, or Allen just realised it worked for him, but clearly it did as aside from a solid chin he got good exposure on some larger shows despite clearly being pretty limited.

He’s posted a video saying Usyk knocked him out in sparring and that prompted his decision to retire.

London a rip off and a dump, I was thinking of moving to Chesire area. You can get a 4-bed house, garage, garden, drive etc for 200k
