Best record: Fury or AJ?

Saw a comment from Hearn online today who tries to argue that Joshua's record is miles better, and quotes Whyte, Breazeale, Klitschko, Parker, Povetkin and Takam as proof of this.

Is he right?

For me, AJ has a deeper record if you were scoring each opponent out of ten, however in my opinion Anthony Joshua does not have one elite win on his record, given that his best win is against the man that Fury himself dethroned nearly 3yrs prior.

Whyte, Breazeale, Parker, Povetkin and Takam are all a level at least below AJ and Fury for me.

Fury's most recent win, demolishing the hardest hitter of recent times who Joshua didn't fight pisses all over Joshua's record IMO. Add in the fact he was arguably robbed of a win the first time AND beat the 10yr reigning champ in his own back yard and its not even close.

Am I letting my dislike for Joshua cloud this or is Hearn, as usual, talking bollocks?

Prime Klitschko in the away corner

Prime undefeated feared Wilder x 2 in the away corner

That’s does it for me, AJ has fought solid opposition consistently but Fury took the biggest risk and fought the number one guys in their back gardens.

its very subjective but for me AJ has fought and of course stopped more " worthy" opponents than Fury has .

I’d say it’s even tbh. Fury has the bigger one-off wins, but Joshua has a much more solid resume with very few filler fights, Fury has had way too many of those. So I call it a draw.

AJ has the better record for me.

I don't think the Wlad that faced Fury was in his prime and I also don't think he was much worse when he faced AJ. In fact, he seemed to have learnt a bit from the Fury fight in that he needed to go for it a bit more when behind. Also, the argument that Fury went to Germany to beat Wlad and AJ did it at home means nothing as the scorecard only mattered in one of those fights.

Povetkin has a better record than Wilder and you could argue that the likes of Whyte, Ruiz and Parker are not far behind.

Of course this is subjective and to put an end to it they'd have to fight but I think that AJ's victories are superior when everything is taken into account.

Would strongly disagree that Wlad was prime when Tyson fought him but he was a lot closer to it than when AJ fought him.

I only rate Cunningham (albeit at cruiserweight), Klitschko and Wilder on Fury's record. Don't rate anybody on Joshua's at the time he fought them.

And let’s not forget, Joshua has been stopped by a less then stellar opponent, which perhaps knocks his resume down somewhat.

Had Fury faced more top 10 opponents then it's likely he would also have a loss or two.

Fury would punch the head off any version of Ruiz.

AJ more depth
Fury biggest wins

Imo biggest wins is more impressive--takes a higher level to get a-level wins then rack up a bunch of b or b+. so i side with fury, esp cuz he's got 2 of those big wins and not just 1, but both good resumes

both elite world level hws we who done very well, no need to suck one off and then hate on the other

Fury's biggest victories piss all over AJ's. Joshua's record is deeper in the sense that he fought more top 10 fighters than Fury, but Fury fought the big boys and didn't even get out of 2nd gear. A fight between the two will decide it, but Fury is miles better as far as I'm concerned.

Where on Furys record is it where he spits out his gum shield, turns his back on his opponent and jacks it???? How is this a debate

Fury's record is better with quality, Joshua's one is with quantity.

Just a quick correction to the initial post, Klitschko hadn't been out of the ring for nearly three years after Fury beat him, it wasn't even a year and a half, which isn't actualy that horrendous.

I prefer Joshua's record overall simply because he's kept going and has dealt with the pressure of being the higher profile world champion much, much better than Fury.

2020 has undoubtedly been a tough year for putting fights together, but yet again it's Fury who hasn't put in an appearance, legal reasons or otherwise, it will always be him mouthing off about fighting anyone and in reality taking on top ten contenders rarely as world champion...or never ! Still waiting for that first world title defence.

Fury boxed in February. AJ hasn’t put in an appearance.

You'll need to do a quick correction for this post too. Joshua hasn't fought this year. Fury has.

Fury has the best stand out wins at the top but AJ has the better resume overall. But it's meaningless to compare this now , best to wait till the end of their careers.

Hearn seriously overrates Breazeale ( whos a bum) weird how he constantly name drops him alongside the likes of Klitschko lol, and Takam whilst underrating Wallin. Wallin is better than Breazeale and Takam! And Hearn forgets about Cunningham.
