Calzaghe is hardly a massive croud puller himself, who gives a shite if he's a crowd puller get the WBA belt off him, i like Calzaghe but all this pr is utter bullshit, the super middle weight division is wide open for him to claim all the belts, Lacy & kessler are easy fights to make as they want to fight him, beyer would also fight him, Calzaghe should hold the WBC,IBF, WBA and the WBO by the end of 2005, but i recon he'll end up fighting for the WBO again and again, if he does'nt move quickly he'll end up a at the end off a once promising career.

so what, the WBA title isn't good enough in itself....? Unbelievable, where's the desire?

Calzaghe is no longer funny but beginning to border on pathetic, he talks down a fight with a good belt holder like Kessler and instead will defend against a no hoper like Tocker Pudwill....IT'S CRIMINAL. These quotes come straight out of the "Kabary Salem has a good record and deserves his shot at the title" book...how does he come up with this rubbish? The guy would seriously like a series of easy defences instead of a meaningful challenge. Has he no ambition at all?

Yes I had a few quid on that too, but it would have been much more satisfying to see Joe getting stretched out on the canvas. I would have loved to hear his after fight interview. Would he still be as stupidly arrogant. Incidently I know a guy who lives in Wales and sees Calzaghe out clubbing from time to time. By all accounts Calzagh is a prize one tit.

I could see why Joe thought February would be not enough preparation, looked a little rounded in the face.

I used to be a Calzaghe fan but over the last few years I have slowly lost a lot of interest in his career. One thing that concerns me is like last night on SKY when being interviewed I didn't detect any 'fire' or burning desire in him.

Maybe he just has a laided back personality that doesn't show his inner feelings but thinking back to other top British fighters over the years like Benn, Watson, Honyghan, Jones etc you could see it in their eyes that they has a real hunger for the game.

I don't pick up on the same burning passion with Calzaghe.

I too was once a massive Calzaghe fan. After Naz retired, i had high hopes of Calzaghe stepping into the breech, going over to the states, and planting a flag for British boxing, but instead he has been content to bottom feed in the WBO's rankings, and pass up opportunities.

I reckon that Sports Network must be a little dissapointed in him too, because he is a guy who could and should have been a big star. Had he taken his show on the road he would be a lot more popular internationally, and now if he really wanted to, and got focussed, I am sure he still has enough to beat the other champs in SM, but he doesn't seem the slight bit interested.

I really wouldn't be surprised if Calzaghe was retired within a year or two. If he cannot get up for a WBA title shot, what can he get excited about.

on his current form, I do not see him beating Glen Johnson either.

Sad, but very true I feel. Yet Calzaghe still claims he is a WORLD Champion but will not travel far from home.

Calzaghe is running out of time in getting this 'superfight'. If this never happens when people look back at his career the first words that will come to mind will always be...

You are quite right Joe. The 'superfight' claims have just been a carrot carrying fans and most experts over the years, unfortunately it's been bit at so much it's almost gone now. Calzaghe realises this and knows even the casual fans are beginning to cotton on to him, which is why he appeared so jaded, he knows his career is approaching the end.

I never really did rate Calzaghe that much to be honest.

I took a long time to be convinced, although the Brewer and Mitchell fights went a way towards making me think he might be a genuine world champ but any good work there has been completely undone over the last 24 months.

I have little optimism for Calzaghes next opponent at best it will be some like this guy.
