Kamil Szeremeta???

Why is Kamil Szeremeta rated so highly by GGG's fans, as well The RING?

March 2018: Kamil Szeremeta entered the IBF's world ratings (initially ranked in 13th) when he captured the EBU title via a 2nd round stoppage.

March 2019: The media reported that Szeremeta was one of the favourites to become Gennadiy’s first opponent under his new DAZN contract, but team GGGG had to go with Steve Rolls instead, because Kamil rejected the opportunity, due to his belief about not being ready by the stipulated June 2019 fight-date.

March 2019: The Polish fighter enters The RING's top-ten middleweight rankings after he defeated Andrew Francillette, an inactive fighter that had previously tasted defeat against a man that Szeremeta had scored a second round stoppage over.

August 2019: The media once again reported that Kamil Szeremeta’s name was mentioned as a likely foe for GGG’s October fight-date. Golovkin ended up facing Derevyanchenko instead.

October 2019: Tom Loeffler admits they’re lobbying the IBF to instate Kamil Szeremeta as GGG’s mandatory challenger for his newly-acquired IBF title.

November 2019: It was announced that GGG would be performing a mandatory defence of his IBF title against Kamil Szeremeta on the 29th February 2020. They failed to achieve that deadline.

I've checked Szeremeta's resume, and he's never beaten a top-12 IBF-rated middleweight and nor has he defeated a top-ten RING-rated 160lb-er either.

Kamil has never participated in an IBF final eliminator, which explains the reason why he's only rated 3rd by the IBF, but he was somehow awarded mandatory challenger status.

Szeremeta's last two outings came against opponents that had failed to emerge victorious in a combined total of 21 bouts, with Cortes losing 4 out of his last 5 contests and Palacios winning 2 of his previous 15 fights (without scoring a single victory in the last five years).

Kamil Szeremeta has only stopped five opponents over the course of his 21 bouts.

Interestingly though, ESPN hasn't included Szeremeta in their top-ten middleweight rankings.

I’ve watched a couple of Szeremeta's bouts and he fails my proverbial eyeball test.

Thoughts?

IBF are liked and known for forcing mandatories and take it seriously, but they also produce some of the worst mandatories as well.

Who should be on the list besides him? Seriously asking 160 isnt deep

And this is a demolition squash match has anyone said otherwise?

Assuming GGG continues to refrain from fulfilling Team GGG's boasts about Gennadiy's ability to compete and beat the best fighters from 154lbs to 175lbs, meaning my list focuses on middleweights:

Canelo Alvarez
Jermall Charlo
Demetrius Andrade
Sergiy Derevyanchenko
Ryota Murata
Chris Eubank Jr.
Rob Brant
Liam Williams
Jaime Munguia
Matvey Korobov
Liam Smith

In terms of Kamil being rated, TBRB, The RING and several forum members, otherwise they wouldn't hold the Polish fighter in such high regard:
apollo creed wrote: 11 Jan 2020, 14:49 G is old now. He should call it a day. Szeremeta may be a dangerous fight.
margaret thatcher wrote: 24 Sep 2020, 20:51 You should of heard by Kammy by now since he's been in talks to fight GGG for like a year or 2 or something

He was the European champion and is a solid technical fighter. He lacks power and is a bit robotic though. At this point though if GGG is still declining it could be more competitive than most predict
I can't be bothered looking for more examples.

IMO he's not even the best in Poland - Maciej Sulęcki is better, I think. I'd say he's top 15-20 MW in the world.

Liam has a vastly superior resume than Kamil. The Brit is far more proven than the Polish fighter, by the proverbial country mile.

I also names ten other fighters. :TU:

And Canelo is technically still a middleweight.

If Golovkin will have trouble with this guy, then he is not only well past prime, but totally shot.

Technically? What is that, like an identity politics thing, where he's the weight that he says he is? The Smith fight is gonna be the 7th fight in Canelo's last 8 that's in a different weight class than the one before it.

GGG has only had one bout at 160lbs within the last 26 months... and his next fight at that weight is against an anonymous no-hoper.

I’m genuinely curious as to why you even asked?

Canelo was never going to make an immediate return to 160lbs after competing at 175lbs. Capturing a genuine world title at 168lbs is a rather obvious gaping hole in his resume.

You are asking why i consider ggg a mw?

Well hes a title holder and only ever fought there. And has a fight scheduled there.

That enough?

GGG isn't going to have any trouble with this guy.
Golovkin is past his best but not a spent bullet.
There is a difference.

 or indeed the weight EO says he is

he's kind of like the Jews with anti-semitism- he gets to define what a middleweight is...
