This fight for the vacant WBO is now a definate possibility.
I would be quite confident that the Ukranian would win another 5 rounder but the championship distance is another thing.
Usyk has shown he can swim in deep water at Cruiser, but when you have a big man like Joyce coming at you all night over 12 it is a different thing.
Opinions?

interesting fight, usyk's stamina tends to be pretty good over 12 and he may just be too plain elusive and quick on his feet again for joe to land enough to physically wear him down. joe can bring the pressure but he's still pretty slow and methodical with it. del is more a guy who charges at you, joe kinda ambles and jives his way in
at the same time joe joe is a lot stronger , has surprisngly good accuracy, and usyk can get hit despite being a skilled boxer, maybe jj could impose himself enough to make it count

Usyk will repeat it in the same fashion he did in the WSB.

Usyk points... But over 12 and in the same size ring they had him fighting Chisora in? I wouldn't be writing off Joyce at this stage after last night.

Joyce on points for me. Joyce has the size and reach which I think Usyk will struggle with. Usyk may do well, to begin with but ultimately Joyce will take him all the way with a 12 round narrow victory.

All I'd say at the moment is Joyce will present a much stiffer challenge than Chisora.

Joyce will have to apply the pressure, easier said than done of course, but if JJ can apply the pressure from the get go, he will get to Usyk and win, my pick by late stoppage.

you'd have to fancy usyk, but the pros seem to suit joyce, he may be a very hard nights work

Usyk ... easily
Despite the win against Dubois.... Joe Joyce is not an elite fighter

They fought in WSB, Usyk totally schooled him, i know this is pro, but watched that fight back then and Joyce was hopeless

Agreed but is Usyk a elite heavyweight?

5 rounds against 12 rounds, big difference
Of course, but pro gloves are bigger difference. Still, watch that vid

I think Usyk would be favourite, but that Joe would fare better in the pro game. He suits long distance fights, that you don't get in the ams. He's also about 35lbs heavier now then when they previously fought, which could be a deciding factor in the later rounds. Usyk could keep a smaller Joyce at bay for 5 rounds, but could he do it for 12?

usyk usually heats up and gets stronger as fights go on, not sure that more rounds automatically favours jj
if joyce is getting to usyk and able to find him he's got a good shot of jusy bullying him and grinding him down, though i also think usyk could just be plain quick enough on his feet to avoid that and pepper joe for a points win

I'm not so sure, Joe stalks at a slower and more relaxed pace and is more methodical than Del, I think that may actually work to Usyk's advantage more even if Joe is overall stronger than Delly and better than him at the moment. might give uzzy more time to use the ring and find spots to escape
Usyk's tank is good too, always gets stronger as fights go on, Joe not the only one here who can go rounds

It was over 7 years ago. Usyk was Olympic champion and Joyce had had 11 amateur fights. I'm not sure it's a valid yardstick.

I think joyce would have to turn it into a brawl to win. No way he out boxes usyk.
