Who gives Fury his biggest test?

Well? I believe Joshua is an absolute gimme for Fury. Josh is a specimen but he's boxing by numbers and whilst a daunting prospect for almost all, for Fury it will be childsplay.

Usyk has amazing skills but maybe he's a little too small. Would be a more interesting test than Joshua though.

Wilder has had his spirit taken.

Whyte isn't much cop.

Ruiz Jr would be interesting because he's a big lump who can box with fluidity.

Is that it?

Joshua seems to be the biggest test. He's big, skillfull, hard-hitting and has good timing.

Usyk is a good boxer, but his weakness is rough fighting inside. He avoids inside hustle and complains to a ref about opponents' dirty antics instead of biting his mouthpiece and returning a favor. And he's smaller. If Fury somehow fails to outbox Usyk from the range, he'll overpower him with his size and rough inside fighting.

Povetkin, Whyte, Ruiz, Parker will be less tough matchups.

Probably the comers like Joyce and Hrgovic will become more dangerous, than those ones, but it's hard to tell for sure right now.

AJ and it isn't even close.

AJ / Fury is such a 50-50 fight, can see the fight going multiple ways.

Usyk will end up like Cunningham. The minute it got difficult Tyson really took advantage of his size and beat him up. He’s an expert in using his size.

Definitely Joshua. The heavyweight division is sh!t though and has been for about 20 years.

I agree with Mickey, it would be empty tracksuit time even if Usyk managed to outbox Tyson for a few rounds, Tyson would just facilitate a quick little trip to the Wood Shed for him.

Surprised people think AJ is a good fight. It's such an easy fight for Fury. 120-108 if AJ doesn't get worn down inside the distance. Fury would make it as lopsided as Chisora 2.

agreed, picture Fury's forearm rammed under Usyk's chin and Usyk getting flattened when he momentarily winces or protests

:TU: i have always (yes always) said this, even pre- Fury-Wlad i always liked the match of Tyson's fuidity and dexterity with Joshua's, uh, lack of same.

Probably an up-and-comer like Majidov or Jalalov

Most definitely but Fury will be gone before fighting them. Jalalov could be the next big thing.

Jalalov is as big as Fury, hits harder and faster, moves well, has good feet and is well schooled. Southpaw. Not sure his fighting brain has the potential to develop to the extent of Fury's though.

I think Fury beats AJ. But I still see AJ as the biggest threat to Fury. Usyk’s brilliant, he may emerge as the top dog. I’m still not convinced though because of his size.

Don't forget, Fury came as close as can be to being knocked out by Wilder, who is a terrible boxer and has nowhere near the ability of AJ.
rusty Fury coming off a 100lbs weight loss did, sure

not-rusty Fury never looked remotely like being knocked out. i suspect if he fought Wilder 3 more times Wilder would fail to repeat the trick, although, a difficult trick to repeat when a man has Manned you to the extent Wilder got Manned.

When you look at the history of the HW division it could end up being someone we least expect, i.e. a Buster Douglas, Haseem Rahman, Andrew Golota, Lamon Brewester type scenario.

I think Usyk would be Fury's biggest test currently and I cannot see that being a big test also...... I think though a small guy moving up with handspeed might be the bigger test..... I am still not 100% sold on Fury and still think he is the best of a bad bunch, but the rest of the bunch is quite quite bad.

Actually scrap that, perhaps Ortiz's size might be more of a test for Fury than Usyk its got to be someone with a bit of boxing IQ and a bit of speed..... I think there might be an overating of Fury's power now based on Wilder 2 - Wilder was outstrengthed, outsized and it was a case of the bully being bullied. The only boxers who I think though could trouble Fury is someone with ring IQ - and that is few and far between in the heavyweight division. If I was too pick three in order of who I think might trouble fury (although to re-iterate I still expect Fury to win pretty comfortably) it would be.

1 - Usyk.
2 - Ortiz.
3 - Joyce - yes going against my ring IQ theory, but he will keep coming and coming and can fight 12 hard rounds, cast iron chin and has decent strength and pop himself. I still don't see Joshua as a hard 12 round fighter which is why I think Joyce could cause more problems than AJ, whilst Joshua does somethings better than Joyce obviously (e.g. Handspeed, Power etc) I don't think it is enough to derail Fury - and Joshua's weakness mean that I think Fury could fight him as he did either Wilder fight and win, vs Joyce if Fury adopted the tactics of the second Wilder fight he might find himself in trouble, cos I am not sure he will be able to push him back so easily.

Actually 2 other fighters who I think have the style to perhaps cause questions are fighting on Saturday - that's Pulev and Hughie. Both big lumps who can box a bit.

Jalolov came to mind as well, shame he's not been moved quickly though, a well schooled, athletic powerful big guy, a nightmare

You're seriously saying you think Hughie and Pulev give Tyson more problems than AJ???
Without sounding like Vicky Pollard, yeah, but no, but yeah - styles. I just think whatever Fury turns up against AJ (providing he is in shape off course) he wins. I can see the Wilder 2 version leaving AJ gassed at the half way point and I think the Wilder 1 version will flumoux him. Whereas I think Hughie's better chin might mean Tyson won't take him out strength him in the same way and with Pulev, yes he's slow of feet, but has solid fundementals and again if Fury adopts the Wilder 2 strategy him might negate his natural advantages he has.

Fury SHOULD beat all comfortably, but what I was saying was if he gets the tactics wrong he could play into their hands to make it interesting. Against AJ I think Tyson outboxes him comfortably (which is how I suspect he will fight) and can hurt him and tire him out if he fights ala Wilder 2. I think Hughie has a suprior chin and stamina over AJ - but it is all about styles and off course I would expect to see AJ beat Hughie. Tyson has been in with a harder puncher than AJ and yes, while he needs to respect AJ's power, I think you've got to be confident he can take his shots.

Pulev reminds me alot of Samil Sam - got good fundementals but should be easily outspeeded and worked, but if you get the tactics wrong then you could be in trouble cos he's tough and he got good fundementals and is decent under pressure.

Really I don't give either three much of a chance

Fury's biggest test are so-called easy lower level opponents. When it's 'easy' he switches off and gets caught and lazy. His most convincing wins and in so called dangerous fights

I hope you're putting your mortgage on a Fury victory then. Sounds like the easiest money you'll ever make at 4/7.

Don't forget, Fury came as close as can be to being knocked out by Wilder, who is a terrible boxer and has nowhere near the ability of AJ.

AJ is big, strong, hits hard and is now a decent enough technical boxer. It would be by far the toughest test of Fury's career, and even if he should be the marginal favourite, in my opinion it's close to being a 50/50 fight.

Usyk is also a very difficult fight for Fury. It would be the first time in his career he'd be fighting someone who was technically superior to him, and although the size difference might ultimately make the difference, Fury confirmed that Steve Cunningham was his toughest fight to date, and Usyk is on a different plant compared to him.
Wilder's unorthodox style combined with his athleticism and power are what make him a greater risk to Fury than Joshua is. Joshua is a good boxer but it is all standard issue stuff that Fury will read like a book. He'll know what Joshua is going to do before Joshua does. Wait and see it will be ridiculously easy.

AJ is his biggest test. Fury's two major scalps are from one man who wouldn't throw and another man who couldn't. If Joshua can cut off the ring and throw combinations up and down anything might happen.
