Just curious. Wondering what the historians have to say. From Walker & Greb before him, to Monzon, Hagler, Leonard or Hearns or current day middles - who could have beaten Sugar Ray Robinson in his prime? I personally lean toward Marvin Hagler but want other viewpoints.

Prime Robinson was not at Middleweight but at Welterweight. Today's Middleweights under bygone rules would be super Middleweight or Light heavyweights. Of the names mentioned Robinson beats Leonard, Walker and Hearns but loses to Hagler and Monzon. Have not seen any footage of Greg to make a decision.

In multiple fights, say best of five, nobody, in my opinion, beats a prime Sugar Ray Robinson, in his weight class.

So, are we talking about middleweight? It wasn't his best weight. Possibly Greb would win. The likes of Monzon, Benvenuti, Griffith, Tiger, Leonard, Hagler and Hearns would win too, without much doubt. The likes of Toney, Jones, Nunn, McCallum could also win more often than not. Maybe even Hopkins, considering the fact that Robinson lost to the other dirty and foulish hugging machine Gene Fullmer.
