If this has been done before, my apologies. Dempsey comes up in the 40's and 50's. No Marciano in sight. He does Marciano's record, fight for fight. For the sake of this, same general training opportunities as Marciano had, same Management. Does Dempsey go 49-0, with 43 KO's? Better? Worse? What do you think?

Dempsey was too old and about 25 years removed from his prime in the 50's, so no I don't think so.

I meant Dempsey comes up and starts his career in the 1940's, at Marciano's age when he started out. In other words, a young Dempsey replaces Marciano in that era and follows Marciano's schedule to the end of 49 fights. Would he go 49-0, 43 KO's?

Oooohhhh! Now that would be interesting! Dempsey vs. Marciano would be possibly the greatest ever fight at Heavyweight too!!

Well, if we'd imagine absolutely best Dempsey at the all stages, he would very likely come undefeated to the title shot. The likes of Walcott and Charles obviously had more chances to win Dempsey, as they had the tools: superior technical abilities and good defensive skills.

Dempsey would be likely to reapeat Marciano on Walcott in the 1st fight: to be behind and then to score a comeback KO win. In the 2nd fight it very likely wouldn't be the 1 st rd KO. But Dempsey probably would repeat a KO against Walcott anyway.

Charles would have more chances against Dempsey. Going full distance against Marciano is a solid agrument for doing the same vs Dempsey. And Marciano even scored a KO in the 2nd bout because of the feel of urgency caused by a severe cut on the nose. I guess, Dempsey would win Charles close in the first bout. But how would the second one go? If there would be no reasons for Dempsey to be urgent like Rocky, this bout would have been similar to the first one, I believe.

Archie Moore was a too opened kind of a fighter, Dempsey would likely stop him too. So, theoretically, Dempsey had chances to provide similar undefeated streak.

However, the actual Dempsey career wasn't that constant like the Marciano's one. Dempsey had more ups and downs on his course to stardom. More likely he would come to the contendership for the Walcott / Charles share of the throne with some losses and then he would become the man of the division like Rocky.
