for me the big challenges now are seeing how high he can move up. joe smith is relentess and weighs in at 190 on fight night, bert a major punching unified lhw champ

The guys like Saunders and Plant won't batter Canelo or stuff like that, but they have chances to outslick him in a tag match.

Cruisers? Well, at the current CW Canelo can shine indeed, but I won't pick him over Briedis.

Not sure if some people really think that Canelo can have some success at CW, if yes, then Canelo vs Makabu would be a nice match-up.

Smith jr would beat beat him. Too big and strong. Even for Canelo. He looked great today but wasn't getting him out. I think he was a bit lucky kovalev was older and gassed out so he got his ko. Beterbiev and Smith jr take him I think

Canelo vs Saunders/Plant is a mismatch, Canelo vs Bivol sounds fine and winnable, Canelo vs Beterbiev is a fight I'd like to see, but no way it's going to happen, too much of risk.

Makabu isn't a perfect boxer, who has shown some vulnerabilities, incuding a possibility to be hurt and KOed. Up to the date it seems, that Beterbiev could be a more challenging matchup for Canelo in comparison to Makabu.

Could Canelo win a cruiser belt, currently there is Arsen Goulamirian and Ilunga Makabu who are not massive cruisers by the looks of things, both regularly weigh in a few pounds under the limmit, shorter and less reach than canelos last 2 opponents... could be a legacy grab to duck up there and try get a weaker belt... Id tune in and watch it, be way more interesting than BJS, Plant or GGG.

It's early for Charlo to move up. Probably he has plans at 160. However, nothing can hold him from stepping up for a one fight vs Canelo and cashing out. On the other hand, it's better for Charlo to take the Golovkin test first, if he wants not only to cash out with the Canelo bout, but to try to win it.

Bivol or Charlo.

I mean, I imagine he originally put the weight on in the same way AJ did, lots of ‘hard work and dedication’, so I would imagine it’s at least possible he could cut some weight off his frame, if he spent a period of time with rather less ‘hard work and dedication’.

I like the Charlo fight a lot, but I like it even more after Charlo has fought a couple more top level guys to keep developing, so I'm ok with Canelo sorting the mandatory, cleaning out 168 and doing it then (assuming Charlo can find quality opponents).

I reckon that DAZN will desperately try to cash in on GGG, by paying Canelo over-the-odds to make a second appearance on their network.

The risk to DAZN of doing otherwise, is that the ageing past-his-prime 39-year-old GGG might be upset by an opponent of a similar calibre to Kamil Szeremeta, Steve Rolls, Vanes Martirosyan or Dominic Wade, which will render one of their most-prized assets as being worthless.

We know for sure that a little over a year ago, before Team GGG finally settled on Kamil Szeremeta, the likes of Hassan N'Dam, Brandon Adams and John Ryder were in contention to face Gennadiy.

And if DAZN can't secure the Canelo-GGG rematch, then Golovkin may try to orchestrate another mismatch stay-busy type of fight against a subpar opponent.

In the meantime, Eddie Hearn is orchestrating a WBO super-middleweight world title fight between Billy Joe Saunders and Demetrius Andrade. So there’s no point in considering either of these guys as potential Canelo foes anytime soon.

Anyway, this will leave Canelo free to engage in a title unification against Caleb Plant. We already know that Alvarez has tried twice this year to orchestrate a fight with the IBF 168lbs champ.

Therefore, Canelo will almost certainly face Caleb Plant during Cinco de May 2021, if DAZN fails to submit a substantial offer to televise the GGG rematch.

I want to see him fight Jermall Charlo. But wouldn't be apposed to seeing him in with Saunders or Plant. I could care less about a 3rd fight with GGG.
