That's the one for me,I never seen that coming,neither did Whyte.

How can povetkin not be number 1?
The brutality is equal but the punch from Povetkin was beautifully set up, he was underdog and he was losing.
Davis was favourite, much bigger and was winning anyway. I guess you could say Santa Cruz is a bigger scalp but that's not enough to be no 1

Yeah - Pov was down on the cards and getting beaten up.
A come from behind KO makes it extra special.

Plus seconds before the KO Adam Smith uttered "the once great Alexander Povetkin, the punch resistance is going a bit and the legs are slower" Bang, goodnight Irene.

The Davis v Santa Cruz KO was one of the best I've ever seen. Not just KO of the year, but an all time great knockout.
Davis triggered the uppercut in the blink of an eye. He was looking for it and executed it to perfection
As good as Whyte is, he's still breakable. Sanata Cruz had only been pipped to the post once in 40 fights with a chunk of those bouts being world title contests.

Povetkin v Whyte has done well to get to number two all things considered. It was a match between a man who is a shadow of what he was and a game, but limited trier with a big mouth.
The Davis v Santa Cruz KO was one for the ages, a truly beautiful punch.

technically though the Povetkin KO was very similar, near-identical to the Davis-LSC one, in the way he baited the right hand. I thought it was brilliant, he pulled it off like he was on a pad session.

If you actually look at the actual ko punch it's not even close for me. Povetkin had been setting up that punch from the beginning, targeting the body. It was totally deliberate in its execution.
If I do this, he'll do that, and then I'll do this.
It was perfect.

Should be considered Povetkin isn’t at his peak whereas Davis is, then.

True but Santa Cruz is better than Whyte and Davis only has about 10 stone behind his punches.

made Whyte throw that straight right (and then adjust his guard and eyes downwards for the anticipated bodyshot)

I thought Povetkin set it up throwing to the body then switching it to the head. Can it even qualify as Eddie said he was up at 8 trying to continue?

he did. he feinted that jab to draw the right hand from Whyte, which he'd slipped and stepped outside in one movement, then from that angle Whyte anticipated the left hook to the body when the uppercut came up the middle instead

1 is Povetkin. No question for me. A masterful piece of boxing, all the way from the set-up to drawing the lead to the execution.

I can understand Whyte's delusion as he must still be concussed but how do you explain Eddie saying that? There was no count for fcuk sake. Embarrassing!
