George Foreman vs. Sonny Liston

Two real punchers, in their primes, 12 rounds, modern rules.
For me, I'll take Foreman by late stoppage, but he may have to come off the floor to do it.
What do you think?

Liston would look good early with his jab and this would be the main thing he could rely on. Liston obviously was strong, hard-hitting and excellent in exchanges, but in that era Foreman was the ultimate wrecking machine. Big George was tougher and better chinned than Sonny, while he possessed a harder punch. Liston wouldn't be able to look good for too long, Big George would eventually get to Sonny and batter him.
Foreman by KO in about 5 rounds.

Foreman pretty much said Liston stood up to his power when they sparred, and said Liston's dynamic left jab was problem for him.
Liston via decision.

Either Foreman stops Liston in 7 rounds after jabbing and landing two-handed bombs or Liston out-slugs Foreman with his own powerful jabs and left hooks to take a decision.

I believe George is superior to Sonny and normally i think he could defeat him. I would like to add an intangible here that could make this interesting. George was in awe of Sonny he idolized and admired him. He even grew a moustache to emulate him. So this could play a factor from a mental standpoint. Riddick Bowe talked of being afraid of Tyson in Brownsville Brooklyn when he walked down the street. I also recall George saying he feared Joe Frazier and his knees were shaking when the referee called them to the middle of the ring for pre fight instructions. Look what George did to Joe. I think all in all overall George wins this but he would have to bring his A Game.

Yes. Fear is a great motivator. It CAN be used by some to generate the Killer Instinct. Jack Dempsey is a prime example of that. He told me he feared many of his opponents, kill or be killed.

Here is something talking about Jack that is unrelated to boxing. My late father god rest his soul and my brother in law both met him at his restaurant Jack Dempseys in New York City when they were little kids. They both said the same thing about him and that is as follows i quote both of them stated HE HAD HANDS LIKE SHOVELS. That really fascinates me because he was not really a great big guy or heavyweight.
