Banjo a big HW at 6'5", he started off well in the pros going 14-0 and winning an area title. Then he lost a few fights and disappeared aged only 29 and after being a pro for just 4.5 years. Did he just lose interest in fighting or something else?

From what I hear, his kids are tremendous in the entertainment world, but I think the younger posters, especially the ones from England, would know better than I.

If anyone should be able to answer, it’s the person who has what I still think is the greatest name in this site’s history: Funso Banjo Baby, where are you?

Yes his sons are dancers, Ashley and Jordan Banjo, they won "Britain's Got Talent", a UK talent show in 2009 with a dance troop called Diversity and they now appear on other celebrity type TV things, chat shows, presenting etc. Ashley formed Diversity and is the big guy at the very beginning of the below video.

Jordan was recently on a celebrity version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire in the UK and he mentioned his father was a former boxer and that prompted me posting on here about his career.

Jordan said he was interested in boxing and would like a boxing related question to come up and one did, who beat Muhammed Ali in the 1971 fight known as the Fight Of The Century? He wasn't sure and had to ring a friend who then ran out of time before he could give his answer. The choices were Frazier, Liston, Foreman or Holmes and Jordan only got it right by guessing :brick:

I've tagged funso banjo baby into this reply to see if he knows more about the boxer.

I think Funso was boxing to please his father back in Nigeria. Once his father died, he soon drifted out of the sport.

Terry Lawless, the manager of Frank Bruno, was petrified of Banjo and kept his enemy very close indeed because Banjo boxed on the same London bill as Bruno on several occasions. It was bizarre. Lawless was quite happy for Bruno to bowl over useless foreign opposition, learning nothing in the process, and all the time there was a big strong durable opponent right there in front of him. Lawless didn't want to know.

I remember Banjo in the national papers in his regal garb as he was the son of a Nigerian chief. He was decent enough but he wasn't going to set the world on fire as it were - like Mercs said - he wasn't explosive and was somewhat negative but he would have caused Bruno problems as he could go ten rounds and he was a huge heavyweight for the day so he wouldn't have been pushed around so easily but I think Bruno would have beaten him to be honest.

Yeah, it got ridiculous towards the height of Bruno's career with match-ups with Reggie Gross and of course - Chuck Gardner - I remember his vaunted match-up with Larry Alexander was seen as a massive step up!

1) Banjo was far superior to anyone who Bruno fought in a non-title fight up until probably a very shot James 'Quick' Tillis (though I would say Lucien Rodriguez but he retired soon after being bowled out by Bruno...)

2) Banjo had the far superior resume in his - I think 16 fights - Bruno's first 16 were knockover jobs for the most part.

3) Go to bed and find a hobby - 12000 posts inside a year - most of them utter shite - is no way to live your life. :shame:

Banjo would have given Bruno a stiff argument in comparison to who Bruno actually fought - that's all that is being said.

Can I ask you a personal question that has nothing to do with Funso Banjo. Do you have a job and make a living?

Omg I predicted Bruno, the guy you pick as well, would win it handily, how outrageous!! how offensive!!

So, we both believe that Bruno would have won though I have a) seen him fight b) were there at the time... so what's your original point again? And if it is that Bruno was 'levels' above Banjo (he was a better fighter but not 'levels' above him) Banjo was 'levels' above the vast majority of Bruno's opposition and it would have made for a good match - that's all that is being said.

My point was that I think Bruno was significantly better and would've won handily. That's it. I didn't think that would trigger someone so much lol

Go and get a job and hobby. 12000 posts in a year... fucks sakes.

I was just giving my opinion on the matchup that was brought up, just like you did when you posted that you think Bruno would win. I never said that anyone claimed Banjo would win.

Not sure why this all turned you into such a crybaby
