Any ideas how we stand with elite/pro fighters training, sparring in the gym etc. I kinda understood when we had 3 tiers but now it's all a bit confusing :brick:

Tier 5 within the next few weeks I reckon, what that includes, who knows

Common sense should apply. Have you got a BBBofC licence and have a fight in the next two months? Or, are you an elite fighter I.e. do you headline ppv events? If you can't answer 'yes' to one or both of those questions, stay out of the gym, do your runs, shadow boxing and outdoor circuits.

I KNOW a lot of gyms just carry on anyway. Just not for kids.

Muppets. They will be spreading the virus like wildfire being in such close proximity. They might not display symptoms themselves but will be responsible for killing other people. And for what? To be crappy boxers on ticket deals waiting for shows that won't happen whilst people are spreading the virus to each other...

We'll inevitably end up in another national lockdown because of people not adhering to the current restrictions. Going to the gym is not important.

We are Tier 3. Elite boxers are allowed to train. I’m just saying the unlicensed lot have places to go as well.

They won't have in a few days. Full lockdown is coming again because people don't a. use common sense and b. do as they are told.

Lockdown hits me in the pocket hard. I am not buying a ticket from any small hall/white collar fighter who has been training in a gym with others in recent weeks and I know several too. I've told them as much.

Full time fighters fair enough. That's different.

The government have ballsed up every single aspect of the virus, is it any surprise a lot of people dont listen to them anymore? I certainly dont and wont, not everyone who disagrees with they tory pudenda are anti covid conspiracy nuts, a lot of people are beyond frustrated with how this whole fiasco has played out, its infuriating and not a single one of them is accountable or sympathetic, i seen snippets of Boris yesterday and Hancock today and its clear not a single lesson has beem learned all year, they continue to lie and dither, schools up here in Scotland are closed for a least another fortnight and i probably wouldnt send my kids to school if they were open, my 2 oldest daughters spent the weeks leading up to xmas isolating despite there clearly being nothing wrong with them, we would've kept them off school anyway to avoid them getting a call to isolate over xmas, my uncle sent my 2 cousins to school and found out hard way when he got a call from school to tell them my cousins had to isolate over xmas, shambles all round, why would anyone listen to anything Boris and Co have to say??

You shouldn't need government advice/rules to realise that isolating as much as possible is what you should be doing to protect yourself, your family, others in the community and national infrastructure. If you can't work that out yourself and/or you keep finding the need to blame the government, you're one of the morons. Darwinism in action.

We pay the governments wages as well as their endless perks and you dont think there to blame ffs, 22 billion on test and trace that doesn't work as i say im not listening to the government but if you dont think the government are to blame for this mess then your a moron, they've spunked billions on thier cronies for sh1t that isnt fit for purpose, not everyone that is sceptical about what boris tells us is a covid denier, a lot of people are scared and confused because of the conflicting advice so by telling themselves it isnt as bad as it seems gives them comfort and the way the Tories go about their work can you seriously blame them?

Pretty much the whole country will be in Tier 4 eventually. It is basically another lock down, but under a different name.

The only ray of hope is the Astra-Zenica vaccine becoming available. It is more accessible to our government than the Pfizer or Moderna jabs.

Within a few months they should have vaccinated most of the vulnerable and will look to lower the tiers gradually as the pressure on hospital wings start to ease.

I blame the government for a lot of things but not for people being stupid and not isolating out of spite for what the government has done wrong.

Eff the government. Look after yourself, your own and your community by having a bit of self discipline and keeping your distance.

We spent 22 billion on test and trace?

If we don't want governments controlling our lives we have to show some responsibility

i'm no fan of the Tories to say the least but it's gone way past the point where I'd blame them. people in this country depress the sh1t out of me sometimes. Canada seems more appealing by the week

The only reason I'd dissuade you from doing one to Canada is the distance it would put between you and your parents. Only you could make that call or not.

In terms of work, doing what you do, you'd waltz into a job in a heartbeat, the lifestyle would suit and it's such a beautiful country on a beautiful continent.

I had an opportunity to relocate to either Washington DC or Dallas about a decade back, I wish I'd have done it. Couldn't do it now as I'm way out of date and way out of contacts.

For exactly those reasons It would have to be when my folks have both passed mate so I’m probably more looking at retirement rather than going there to work (I actually have zero transportable skills other than ‘run a business’

The current malaise has only confirmed things I have thought for some time.

In my short time there and from what I know (sister was in Canada for work for 2 years) I liked absolutely everything about Canadian culture. Sensible, rational, polite.

Other possible negatives, the weather and cost of living?

So everyone should just sit tight in isolation to be extra safe while borders and airports remain open? At what point do you say enough is enough, pretty much everyone i know obeyed the initial lockdown, i stuck to rules from march until June whilst 15,000 people flew into UK a day, one of the reasons we're still in a mess because it was a phoney lockdown, do you honestly believe we should just isolate for another few months and hope this one works, insanity if anyone believes the same tactics will give us another outcome, covids going nowhere, we cant just keep going around in circles, we've already wasted nigh on a year, I'll be fvcked if im doing that again unless its proper lockdown, borders, airports the lot, if not then each to their own, i respect everyones decision but the passive can isloate with the vulnerable and elderly

Some pretty balanced talk on here.

Agree with a lot .. people need to take responsibility for their own actions and safety

The government haven’t performed particularly well (not many people in the world would say their government has) but it’s not an easy ask.

The part that has annoyed me the most is the cronyism giving fat contracts to mates etc and the Cummings situation which unravelled the publics spirit abruptly.

The virus itself was an unknown and therefore was hard to act proactively against.

With borders open and being an international transport hub, then as handsofstone says .. it was never going to end well.

The number of people I saw on social media flying around Europe and coming back to London and going straight back to clubs it was no surprise things went bad again.

The only countries who have managed to get a handle on things are those that closed the borders to non-nationals and made returning non-nationals stay in a special quarantine hotel for two weeks. Australia / NZ / China / Singapore

Even Australia have had a spike now after a couple came back and went to the pub whilst waiting for their results. It’s literally that easy.... one irresponsible person potentially causing a whole state to go back into lockdown.

Too many selfish people around. (I don’t mean those going out to earn money to put food on the table)

Have they identified all that literally coming from that couple? Oh, wow. Wouldn’t fancy being them....

I think that was the case ... but it really doesn’t take much to escalate things

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-55378180

“They said it had spread after one couple failed to isolate at home while awaiting coronavirus test results. Their 11 December visit to a popular lawn bowls club and pub in the Northern Beaches suburb of Avalon has now been identified as the "super spreader" event.

However, it is unclear how the couple - who had not travelled overseas - became infected.

Since Australia closed its borders in March, its outbreaks have largely begun with breaches in its hotel quarantine system for returned international travellers. Such instances led to Australia's biggest outbreak in Melbourne”

A few Breaches of quarantine and a state loses hundreds of millions. It’s staggering stuff on every level.
