Sadly I don’t see it anytime soon. Competing promotions. Plus COVID limiting fights that promoters are willing to sport without fans. Can see it possibly at 140 or a catch weight like 138 in a couple years at the earliest.

By the time Crawford v Spence comes around it's going to be an early to mid 30s Welterweight fight right.

Let's strike while the irons hot and hype up two hot boxers that can be scheduled to meet before the vultures get a hold of it and drag it into oblivion.

Tank should go on tour and wipe Garcia and Lopez back to back if they'll have him.

It is one of the fights we really need to see in 2020.

But along with so many others I worry it may never happen for one reason or another.

The likelihood of seeing López and Davis share the ring within the next twelve months is almost negligible, because they:

• Currently compete in different weight classes. And if Tank makes the jump to 135lbs soon, he’ll need to engage in a tune-up before facing one of the elite-level lightweight fighters.

• Teófimo López is apparently facing George Kambosos Jr. next and (according to his father) he might only engage in one more bout at 135lbs before making the jump to 140lbs, because he’s struggling to make weight. Whilst this decision may be primarily caused by a physical limitation, when he does start competing at the heavier weight, he should be able to face the likes of Ramirez, Taylor and Prograis (before they make their own impending moves to welterweight). So you could easily argue that López has bigger fish to fry than Davis.

• Teófimo López is with Arum/Top Rank/ESPN; and Gervonta Davis is with Haymon/Mayweather/PBC/Showtime/Fox. It’s extremely rare to see cross-promotional cross-network bouts being made. And we only ever see these unique events when they can generate mega-money. The economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic scuppered Fury-Wilder III, with the same financial constraints inevitably applying to López-Davis.

I'm assuming you mean me, since your post was underneath mine.

All you've asked was "How far away is a Gervonta v Teo fight? What time frame are we looking at before this takes place?"

And all I did was provide factually-accurate reasons explaining the reason why this fight can't happen imminently.

Put it this way, I really do hope I’m wrong, but the majority of the claims detailed in my post merely reflects the thoughts previously conveyed by member of Tank’s and Teo’s teams.

I would say it's never gonna happen. Taking big risks doesn't seem to be Gervonta's thing.

I think it has to hapen this year or never. hope it does, love to see teo fight, Haney, Garcia, Tank, loma rematch (optional) and move up. fornicate mandatory. you got the belts, and your moving up soon, who cares if they strip you.
But once teo goes 140 the tank fight dies, tank isnt going 140 anytime soon, he dosent like fighting 135, fuk he dosent seem to like fighting real 130s....

Teo will move up before the fight happens.
