Ryan Garcia: My Brother Don't Train; Wants To Be A Police Officer, Not A Boxer

Ryan Garcia wasn’t exactly surprised “Sugar Rush” didn’t perform up to his capabilities January 2.

The emerging Garcia knows his younger brother barely trained for his four-round fight against Rene Marquez on the undercard of his showdown with Luke Campbell. Sean Garcia boxed accordingly during a four-round lightweight fight that the Victorville, California, native won by majority decision at American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Ryan Garcia (21-0, 18 KOs) discussed Sean’s approach to the Marquez match and his career during a recent appearance on “The Ak & Barak Show,” which streams daily on DAZN and SiriusXM.

“I [wasn’t] nervous,” Ryan Garcia said to co-hosts Barak Bess and Akin Reyes. “I knew Sean was gonna fight like he did. Sean don’t train a day in his life. That man don’t care. That man, you know, Sean’s the type of person, he just don’t care! You know what I mean? Like, I asked him like, ‘You good?’ He’s like, ‘Man, I don’t care about this fight.’ I was like, ‘All right. I mean, I know it’s four rounds, but if you don’t train four rounds feels like 12.’ I mean, Sean knows that.

“Sean’s a very talented fighter. If Sean trained, man, he’ll whip anybody’s ass. Sean is a monster. He just – he don’t care! I don’t know what other way to put it. He just doesn’t care. But he don’t wanna be a boxer. That man wants to be a police officer, so he’s gonna be a [police officer]. Sean don’t wanna be no boxer. Sean just does it just to do it. You know what I mean? But he don’t wanna box.”

He shouldn't be in the ring if he ain't taking it serious.. He could get hurt. Dangerous sport. :box:

“Sean’s a very talented fighter. If Sean trained, man, he’ll whip anybody’s ass. Sean is a monster."

I don't think he's exaggerating. Even at this early stage Sean Garcia looks the more talented of the two.

Hopefully he'll get his heart fully into boxing before too long.

Far too many talented kids have slipped through this toughest of sports that couldn't.

At that age, what do you know? Nothing.
And no one tells you anything either.

Youth wasted on the young mate, the sport is full of lads that don’t really care one way or the other about being a boxer.

He’s a really young kid, so maybe he’s trying to figure it out. Best of luck to him in whatever he does. He could be a very terrific fighter.

Don’t think anyone boxes as a hobby lol! You get decent amateurs that turn pro but just don’t really want it enough but because they’re used to boxing and picking up a payday is nice they carry on

What' the purpose of this thread?

Why are we discussing the fact a fighters' relative isn't interested in making a career out of boxing?

I don't particularly like Cops, and I've never called them in my life. Including when I've been the victim of a crime.

As for this thread. Not sure why Ryan Garcia is cutting down his own brother or why we should care if his heart ain't in the sport.

Great example amigo! Ultra-rich, cop-hating elitists like her often have their own personal armed bodyguards, & have little or no concern for the safety of common folks like us.

You couldn't make it up.

Now she's only some got 20,000 soldiers in DC to hide behind for the 'virtual' inauguration. 😂

Good for Garcia junior if he wants to go into law enforcement, but he might find boxing can pay better. Might even be less dangerous.

Many of those so-called "Trump supporters" in the DC riot were actually BLM activists & Antifa anarchists like John Sullivan, who was recently arrested by the FBI and charged with involvement in the riot.

Here is a video of Sullivan (aka Jayden X) bragging that he dressed up & posed as a Trump supporter.

Here's the FBI arrest warrant/criminal complaint for Sullivan:

lol, so did he bash the cop's brain in with the fire extinguisher, or break into the the house floor with zip ties lol. were the thousands of rioters all just clones of john sullivan or brainwashed by him to act? and why did these brave patriots not do anything to stop his terrible evil? john sullivan was responsible for everything lolol!!!

funny to see how so many 'patriots' were treating the police like sh!t , assaulting and even killing them. they didnt just back the blue, they literally backed their brains in!

maybe, just maybe, there are crazy wackjob idiot rioters on all sides , and that anqueefwa and these idiots can BOTH do crazy stupid sh!t. maybe not everything is just some alex jones conspiracy inside job by the other side. although i know so many struggle with that very complicated concept

i have nothing against the cops personally, the vast majority just want to do their job without incident. it's people on both sides who do stupid sh!t and put them at risk

I could spend the better part of a day listing lost talent on here. It's not exclusive to sports, on the contrary. The willingness to go through the routine and process is the most important element and it's the one so often missing.

Of all the people in the world, does anyone really think that there aren't many thousands of men out there with more physical potential to be heavyweight greats than Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua? They either don't know it or haven't tried to fulfill it

that's true, there are billions more people who never try boxing than there are ppl who do try it. there would surely be tons of doods among those billions who coulda been standout boxers

id think in most sports, activites, etc, the person with the most natural ability hasnt pursued it seriously if at all

This is one of the reasons I used to like the Soviet approach (and their followers e.g. Cuba, GDR) to sport. They would identify physical potential from the masses in school and take it from there. In the 70s, and 80s we saw some amazing gymnasts, weightlifters, amateur boxers, rowers, athletes and wrestlers.
