he's not a step up from fformella, he's basically an overused punch bag . he has been in with some big names but gets a pasting when he does....took an absolute hammering last time vs ortiz

the type of fight that is 'can so and so stop __ fast than __ did' just never gets me excited, know what im sayin

I'll be shocked if Benn can stop Vargas.

Unless the beating he took vs Ortiz really took it out of him, this is a nailed on points win for Benn. Benn might even have some hairy moments too or even a flash knockdown against him as Vargas can be tricky.

Ortiz Jr is really, really good and hits like a mule: Benn isn't near that level in my opinion.

btw he had a razor close fight with that finnish guy benn destroyed and got dropped in that too, but won a sd at home i think, he's the same level as that guy when it comes to actually winning

sure, let's get conny some more rounds and stuff, i see that and know theyre playing the long game. but totally uninterested in seeing vargas recycled yet again. i mean at least score an upset or something sometime.

took an absolute battering last fight that was hard to watch

maybe martin murray will get another title shot on the same card

Formella actually has better wins that Vargas btw, do we rate a guy just for who kicked his ass lol

the best guy vargas actually beat, he beat on sd at home, while benn destroyed the same guy in 2 rounds

In no way is Vargas a step up from Formella, especially this version of him.

Benn will win this comfortably and we’ll likely learn absolutely nothing from it - and nor will he.

The more I see Benn I just can’t see Matchroom being willing to let him near anyone of a high level who can either punch, or box smoothly from mid range with good feet.

Vargas is a tough punch bag whose been round the block - a fit and dedicated club fighter. 15 years ago Benn would have been a staple WBU Champion - all show and no go

There is no confidence in Benn's chin is there. The fact that people are saying this is a good fight speaks volumes for where he is at.

I like the fight for benn, another tough enough guy. But, i dont think it required a 5 month gap. I know boxing has been cooked, but wish this made it onto the josh kelly undercard. Start building that niggle.

BENN vs. VARGAS

On Saturday, April 10, rising Welterweight star Conor Benn (17-0, 11 KOs) defends his WBA Continental Title against Samuel Vargas (31-6-2, 14 KOs) following his career-best performance last time out against Sebastian Formella.

‘The Destroyer’ dominated Germany’s Formella over ten rounds, impressively outfighting and outboxing the former IBO World Champion to remain undefeated in the red hot 147lbs division.

Vargas has shared the ring with current WBC and IBF Welterweight World Champion Errol Spence Jr, two-weight World Champion Danny Garcia, and former Unified Super-Lightweight World Champion Amir Khan.

Also on the card, Aldridge’s Rachel Ball (7-1) and Watford’s Shannon Courtenay (6-1, 3 KOs) rematch with the vacant WBA Bantamweight World Title on the line.

Hartlepool’s Savannah Marshall (9-0, 7 KOs) makes the first defense of her WBO Middleweight World Title after her emphatic win over Hannah Rankin in October.

Commonwealth Middleweight Champion Felix Cash (13-0, 9 KOs) fights for the first time since his win over Jason Welborn.

Glasgow Bantamweight Kash Farooq (14-1, 6 KOs) returns after his masterclass win over Angel Aviles.

That's a really good card actually.

Doesn't need 2 womens fights.. Hearn has started doing that a lot now.

Savannah is ok though, she can finish opponents.

But yeh, overall. Farooq, Cash, Marshall, then main event.

Too bad we have to wait a couple of months yet, anything can happen til then..

Lets hope it all sticks.

Formella seemed tiny in there compared to Benn god knows what the weight difference on the night was.

This is pretty small time stuff Isn’t it? Unsurprising, they are going to want to get fans coming ASAP and not waste anything.

Frampton Vs Herring and the Okolie title shot are the only important fights in global terms that we get until Easter.
