Now that GGG is gonna be 39 y/o, Eubank Jr is hoping to find his pen but "the first dollar should always drop to the fighter!"

I wonder why Eubank Jr doesn't say nothing about fighting Andrade or Charlo ? All three are in their early 30s!

Both Andrade and Charlo have belts! But they are not 40 y/o!

So basically he's tried to wait him out, and he thinks he's done it now. I think he probably still can't beat Golovkin, but I wouldn't mind seeing him try.

It'll probably be competitive at this point.

Yup. Even at this point I think GGG would beat him. Jr is limited as a fighter.

I guess Eubank Jr. is just thinking that his last two wins over DeGale and Korobov-(via shoulder injury) are his bargaining chips for a big fight vs GGG. Jr fought last time in 2019 and now he just wants to land a big fight. lol

The boxing world is quite different to the days when Eubank Sr and especially Nigel Benn could go toe to toe with the Americans and rest of the world.

They were incredibly tough men, as is Chris Jr, but a little bit more finesse never hurt anyone, has it?

In commercial terms, Chris Eubank Jr. is arguably considered amongst the top-three rated middleweights.

If Gennadiy Golovkin has become risk-averse, whilst waiting for the opportunity to face Canelo again, then Eubank Jr. would be one of the weakest legitimately world-rated big payday opponents he could hope to face.

However, the Brits fighting style could prove to be problematic for an ageing veteran to overcome, because he's teak-tough and possesses a fantastic work-rate that he has consistently proven capable to maintain for twelve consecutive rounds.

Whilst it's easy to argue that Chris Eubank Jr. isn't as good as Sergiy Derevyanchenko, we need to remember that if GGG did face the Brit later on this year, he'd be a couple of years older than the man that deserved to lose against the Ukrainian during October 2019.

And Golovkin has never been considered a particularly defensively responsible fighter, because he's willing to take a few blows to land his own.

Even though the betting odds will inevitably favour Golovkin to beat Eubank Jr. by an overwhelmingly massive margin, I feel the Brit has an excellent chance to score the upset over a past-his-prime version of GGG that will surely struggle to cope with relentless pressure being applied by an opponent that won't fall down.

To those who naively believe that the 2021 past-his-prime version of GGG would completely dominate Eubank Jr, with consummate ease, should probably ask themselves to justify Golovkin's reasoning for cherry-picking mismatches against the likes of Vanes Martirosyan, Steve Rolls and Kamil Szeremeta.

Fair enough, I can understand where you're coming from.

You obviously prefer GGG to take a more leisurely, less risky route, because it would be saddening to see the ageing veteran taste defeat to dangerous young guns that may have been considered inferior to Gennadiy during his 2015 heyday.

Personally-speaking, if GGG is no longer interested in facing the best at 160lbs, by instead seeking easy paydays against less-than-stellar opposition, then I'd rather see him retire, because he's already reached the age where every single bout could potentially result in him embarrassingly slipping on a banana skin.

Golovkin did his hard work to get the big-tough fights back in the day. Now he's on 'smart business fights' mode. But let's not forget that Golovkin is old and Munguia and Murata are licking their chops to get the chance to fight GGG. Murata is more proven and he's a champion too. Munguia is also a young hungry lion too. Both are top 10 Ring Magazine middleweights.

I wouldn't mind him fighting most of those guys. I'm not really interested in seeing Andrade in hardly any big fight. He was talking about fighting Saunders or something I think. That'd be one that'd be ok because I'm not really all that interested in either of those guys so let them fight it out for who's at least worthy of a big fight.

GGG vs Munguia or Murata would be fun as a GGG fan as he should be able to shine in those fights. GGG vs Charlo should be fun as a Boxing fan as it's a competitive matchup.

I don't think Munguia or Murata are exactly gonna lay down for him, but he should be able to handle those guys.

He oughta retire before too long though. With all the Amateur fights he's had, and a lengthy amateur career he's gotta be getting close to being a spent force in Boxing, but at least his style isn't real reliant on speed so he may be able to squeeze out a few more examples of why so many fans loved him before he goes.

True. Saunders and Eubank Jr more or less admitted it, and Canelo decided to buy himself some time, judges and some other stuff. It was the unspoken acknowledgment back then that GGG was head and shoulders above the rest.

You can say what you like about Eubank Jr but you'll never call him afraid. I'm guessing that Sr didn't want him thrown in against GGG back then but is ok with it now.

By rights Saunders should have given him a rematch instead of talking rubbish for 5 years and fighting no one other than Lemieux.

So many potentially great fights have slipped by in the last 10 years. What other sport would do this to itself?

Losing fans, losing money and making a mockery of itself as other combat sports keep making gains.

Yup. Golovkin was a wrecking machine back then. He was whooping champions in sparrings in Big Bear.

The problem with these guys is that they want to protect at all costs that '0' , a belt or both as a bargaining chip for a potentially big money fight.
