Frank W fights off COVID after being hospitalised for eight days, now back at work

Frank W has revealed that he’s just recovered from COVID-19 having spent the last eight days in hospital.

The Hall of Fame promoter, 68, has endured a rough month after contracting the virus late last year, but is now thankfully in the clear.

Warren told Seconds Out: “How am I doing? I was in hospital for eight days with COVID, other than that, I’m alright.

“I tested positive just before Christmas, didn’t feel too good.

“My wife wanted to call an ambulance and I didn’t want to go into hospital, so they gave me a bit of oxygen and they went.

“The next day I was really dreadful, she called the ambulance and I went to hospital.

“I was stuck in hospital with a load of other really poor people, much worse than I was with it. That’s where I was.

“I spent a bit of time in there suffering, trying to get my breath and that was it. I come home last week.”

Regarding the treatment he received from NHS staff, Warren added: “They were marvellous, magnificent. They look after you.

“They’re unbelievable selfless people and you can’t underestimate how much they contribute in a dangerous environment.

“They’re in there with people who test positive, who are suffering.

“The wards were all full, there’s no room. It’s just horrible and I was lucky.”

Warren has returned to work this week and will now be focussed on putting together his fight schedule for the coming months.

His first fight of 2021 has already been announced as Carl Frampton will challenge Jamel Herring for the WBO super-featherweight title on February 27.

Good he’s on the mend. I did think a few days that things had gone quiet with Frank. Only one fight announced so far this year but this explains things.

Glad to hear he's back at work and well again.

Good news that Frank has ridden it out. Hope these vaccines get a hold of this asap. The big fear is a mutation to something that young people can't cope with either. All these clowns not abiding by lockdown must be too gormless to realise that is a very real possibility.

Its easy to see why some think theres something funny going on , when your in a country where few have got it and no one seems to know anyone who's had it , yet deaths are attributed to it , and mainly there old people with heart and respitory problems anyway ..... i KNOW MYSELF I WAS sort of subscribing to te conspiracy bollocks ,,,,, but i will admit when i read about normal people in the UK getting it , i start to think , heh this just might be real

not to turn it into a co vid thread, but it's not really a conspiracy to believe the government/media are being dishonest about the situation (to serve their own ends) like they are everything else. It's not that most people dont believe theres a virus, its just they doubt that the extremities we are being asked to undertake are really necessary. And i think thats fair enough tbh. you have to weigh up the fact that the economic impact will kill far more people that the actual virus will. Its lazy and foolish to write off anyone who disagrees with the mainstream narrative as a "conspiracy theorist" (a term actually leaked into the mainstream by the CIA post JFK to dismiss anyone questioning the official story). But after the lies told in the run up to Brexit and the pointless search for weapons of mass destruction, does anyone really believe that the government wont lie to serve their own agenda? What about the media after saville, hillsborough and tapping dead kids phones? Were all the people campaigning on those matters "conspiracy theorists". I am following the rules to the letter, but I'm not convinced I want or need a vaccine. I'd also be interested to see if people die of actual regular flu or pneumonia anymore, or if those stats get tagged on.

Of course they’re not intentionally decimating their economies and building up vast amounts of debt.

I can understand why people have some scepticism about politicians but when the vast bulk of medical experts are saying the same thing and hospitals are at capacity then I’m going to believe it.

i didn't say they were intentionally, but it is inevitably going to happen from all these lockdowns. so having a conversation as to whether they are worth it isn't unreasonable imo. The online shaming towards anyone not reading from the script offered by the system is a but sickening too, but people play their positions perfectly. Instant hate rather than honest back and forth interaction. its almost like social media profits and thrives from our division and conflict.

Like everything else in life it’s a numbers game. If you’re under 60 with no serious underlying health condition you’ve nearly as much chance of drowning in the bath as you have of dying from COVID. Yet the govt choose to lock up the drivers of the economy and plunge us into generations of debt just so the old folk can potter round Asda five times a week.

There’s no sinister underlying motive as the loonies keep suggesting it’s just groupthink taking hold of weak self serving politicians.

So far 90,000 people have died after testing positive for Covid and last year the death toll was up by about 20% up on a normal year - despite all the restrictions.

Without any restrictions the realistic expectation is the covid death toll would have been about five times higher, and many people who survived it would have died as we wouldn't have enough ventilators to go around.

No idea what people would consider an acceptable number of deaths to not do anything and keep the economy open.

So far this has increased the national debt by 10% from 1.8 trillion to 2 trillion so it's hardly changed things that much.

Yeah, I've had to u follow Josh Taylor on twitter due to all his conspiracy nonsense.

He is still one of my favourite fighters, but my estimation of him as a person has gone down considerably.

Glad Frank is on the mend, he is a tough old goat.
