15 rounds, circa mid 1983, who wins?

Sanchez died in 1982. Sanchez would beat Arguello in real time at 126 or even 130. He boxed way too good for Arguello.

Gotcha. But do you feel Salvador could do the trick at 135?

I go Arguello in this. If Sanchez moved up to 135 he would be at a distinct disadvantage. Generally i always favor the man who is already at the weight rather than someone coming up. Arguello inside the distance.

Carrying 135 would be too much for Sanchez, in my opinion. At 130, I think he beats a 135 pound Arguello.

At the time, when it could have actually happened, Arguello would win, possibly by a stoppage.

I think the great Salvador Sanchez would outbox The Explosive Thin Man. But, I am not to sure about that. The great Alexis Arguello had a way to invite you in the inside exchanges and then, BOOM! A left hook from out of nowhere around the 13th round and Sanchez starts seeing stars. On queer street he will be.
It would be like Sanchez' fight with Danny Lopez, but much more technical. Arguello won't be getting hit as much as Danny. But I think he will be slightly behind.
Plus, we really don't know how Salvador handles the weight at lightweight. I think he could handle it well. He was about 5'6" or 5'7". Arguello was like 5'9" or 5'10".
Arguello by late TKO in 13th round in a fight of the ages.
