New York's Davey Moore was unbeaten and the defending WBA light-middleweight champion against a supposedly finished Roberto Duran in Madison Square Garden in the summer of 1983. Duran dished out a horrible beating in front of a shell-shocked referee until desperate ringsiders convinced Moore's manager, Leon Washington, to throw in the towel in the eighth round. Moore, who split with Washington afterwards, was a shadow of himself in the years that followed, although he did get another crack at a world title and was stopped by Philly's Buster Drayton in 10 rounds. He tragically died in 1988 when he was pinned under his own car as it began rolling down his drive and he sought to stop it. His death, at the age of 28, was horribly coincidental with that of another Davey Moore, who died after losing his world featherweight title to Sugar Ramos in 1963 at the age of 29.

Taylor was a great fighter, but his skills as an author are far more impressive.

Shocking how people only remember him as a punch drunk Phllly fighter who was stopped with 1 second on the clock, rather than an author of undoubted talent. They should make his work compulsory study in secondary schools

Never thought Hatton was quite the same after Mayweather but still had a few decent nights so never ‘ruined’.

Foreman took 20 years to get over his but found redemption.

Could you actually say Tyson after getting beat by Buster Douglas? Imo Tyson was fighter who scared the chit out of everyone, so in terms of the question certainly in my generation Mike Tyson should hold the mantel in this question

David Price was never the same after the first Thompson loss. A lot of people would have favoured him to beat Fury at the time too.

He didn't have the aura of Invincibility anymore, but he wasn't ruined. To me ruined is like you basically never managed another really significant win after the loss.
