allegedly today announced that the fight is definately on, it will be staged at the MEN arena on 4th June, boxing starts at 10pm and Hatton/Tszyu will be entering the ring at 2am.

Tickets will go on sale on February 3rd, the fight is expected to be a 20,000 sell-out

last year was shocker but Im an optimist, I like the way this year is shaping up, last year for the domestic big guns was fornicating dire really but its looking up.

Ricky Hatton, the Manchester City fan who enters the boxing ring to the strains of his team's anthem Blue Moon, might have to contest the biggest fight of his life at Old Trafford, Manchester United's stadium.

The undefeated Mancunian has negotiated home advantage for his IBF light-welterweight title contest against the world No 1, the Australia-based Russian Kostya Tszyu, but the City of Manchester Stadium and the MEN Arena are unavailable for the scheduled challenge in the early hours of June 5.

"I don't really mind going to Old Trafford," Hatton said. "A lot of United fans support me and I know the whole of Manchester will be behind me. The main thing is I'm fighting in Manchester and we've got a big venue, because there will be no problem selling tickets for this one."

Old Trafford has a capacity of 68,000, but organisers would plan for a crowd of 40,000 to 50,000. Hatton will be the underdog against Tszyu, who returned from injury to demolish the American Sharmba Mitchell last November. It was impressive, but Hatton said: "I know I can beat him. He's had only 10 rounds of boxing in the last four years and he's never fought anyone like me."

One man eager for the fight to go ahead at Old Trafford is Hatton's younger brother, Matthew, the central area welterweight champion and a Manchester United supporter.

Eastman/Hopkins only for one belt but if Eastman can pull it off it would be like Turpin beating Robinson
Hatton/Tsyzu Is Hatton the real deal? and can Tsyzu deal with Hattons workrate.
Maybe the powers that be are listening to the fans at last maybe they are reading the forums and realize that the mismatchs for 2004 are really bad for the sport. I hope so

Things do indeed look rosy as long as you take sicknote and all his shenanigans out of the equation. Just goes to show if he retired we'd be no worse off.

Oh yeah so there is I think you may be right about Woods/Hoye he has got a better chance then Eastman or Hatton to win a world title. Given that Hoye is an unknown quantity and remember Clinton did drop Johnson in their first fight so I think he has a chance.

Hoye is largely untested, I think Clinton has an excellent chance this time around. He needs to be busy though, that's what cost him against Johnson, that and the fact Johnson was just slightly better in every department.

Hoye is a big banger, but Clinton takes a good shot, just doesn't want to be taking too many unneccesary ones.

At least 2am is a good time, I'll stay up for that. It's a shame that because of Allegedlys track history I'm still a little cynical, I'd love to just look forward to the fight now. I'm going to try anyway....
