There was a Heavyweight title fight last night

The mighty Trevor Byran took on the incredible Bermane Stiverne for the full WBA Heavyweight title.
Byran has been on a terrorising run having had his last fight in 2018 , and the challenger Stiverne was coming in after 2 knockouts in his last 2 fights, unfortunately he was the one knocked out, but don't let any of that bother the WBA.
WTF

Don’t tell me the WTF sanctioned this as well.

Is the Fres Oquendo issue EVER going to get sorted?

In case you're wondering, yes, Bryan is your classic uninspiring modern heavyweight complete with fat creases in his sides.

Unbelievable, isn't it? Charr drops out so they skip Oquendo, who has been in training for the fight for six years, and dig up Stiverne, coming off two big KO losses.
Trevor Bryan is unreal. We actually have a flabby, talentless, 90s-style inept journeyman as a heavyweight champion. He looks and boxes exactly like an opponent from a USA Network broadcast.

Big Fres (46)and Stiverne's (42) combined age are still younger than Don King

'Manuel Charr has now stated that his promoter Erol Ceylan is planning to sue Don King and the WBA after WBA made him 'regular' heavyweight 'champion in recess' and sanctioned Trevor Bryan vs Bermane Stiverne for the belt last night.'

That's good. Don King gets sued so little that will really throw him off.

Just watched this. F*cking hell they were both so fat and old. Aren't the WBA embarrassed by this? When was the last time the WBA regular didn't belong to some crap fat slob that nobody cared about particularly and wasn't even in the top 10? I honestly can't remember.

Collectively the sanctioning bodies get worse each and every year. The WBC seem to introduce new belts every 18 months (Franchise, Gold, Silver) and are now introducing new weight categories whilst the WBA seemingly want as many champions as they can get.
The top promoters around the world need to come together and give them ultimatums as it’s really taking the piss. They just keep taking their commissions and make a mockery of the sport.

The promoters are never going to do that. If they have title fights on their bills it adds to supposed credibility from the casuals
A night of boxing. 3 title fights.
As opposed to 1 title fight.
Yeah sure we will know the crack but we collectively don't amount to much money in the grand scheme of things.

From the outside looking in i suspected Charr was always going to get stitched up. It seemed the sole purpose of the whole affair was to get Don King a version of the WBA title so he can think he is a player again. From what I've read I have sympathy for Charr, seems he was done up like a kipper.

the wba is the worst of the major sanctioning bodies
by far the biggest proliferation of 'world' titles, including their bizarre love for having an interim champ when there are already 2 other 'world' champs
by far the most f@cked up situation (the charr, oquendo, bryan, stiv fiasco)
blatant ripping away of titles that fighters won, to just hand them to bigger names (machado -davis situation)

There's a very good article in the latest Boxing News about the WBA regular and interim belt fiasco. Browne, Charr, Chagaev, Ortiz, now Bryan - they are all supposed to have be heavyweight world champions. Not to disparage the boxers but it's laughable.

All four organisations have now taken so many actions that are inexcusable that trying to rank them is infantile.
None have any credibility left, it’s now just car crash tv as we all watch boxing trying ever harder to disappear up its own arsehole.

Right. The WBC follows. However, the remaining two and the Ring suck too in any case.

oh ya they all have suckyness to them, although i am a true believer that some smelly turds still stink more than others
the ring i actually find mostly credible in terms of its ranking / champions, but it really carries very little actual influence/force. and tbh the ring is getting less and less popular all the time it seems. and tbh most publications rankings are better than the official rankings, so the ring isnt anything special in that regard

The Ring belt is the best. Haven’t bought the magazine for years but it used to be handy to find out what went on six months ago.

Going by boxrec ratings, outside the big boys we have Price, Wardley and Gorman in 8,9 and 10.
I'd say all 3 of those have a good chance against Byran.
The top 7 in the UK would destroy him
