Shared broadcast in the UK

Sounds like it is headed to a shared Sky and BT PPV.
Has this ever been done in the UK before where two channels have shared broadcasting of a boxing event? Obviously we know the US has had several.

This was one potential stumbling block, so it is good that they are willing to compromise.
As you say, US networks have done it in the past, so no reason why UK networks can't.
So it is a choice between Barry Jones or Tony Bellew on commentary? Mismatch really

Yes. BT and Boxnatio n, maybe Premier Sports and allegedly.

Barry Jones hasn’t been with BT for ages now. He now does bits with Sky.

I did notice him popping up here and there, I just assumed he was keeping himself busy while things have been quiet.

He’s done other things for Sky in addition to the MTK Golden Contract.

Just out of interest, how come? A lot of people on here seem to dump on Sky but are BT really any better? They both got OTT pushing the fighters on their networks (Nelson saying Tennyson beats Gervonta Davis to Willy Hutchinson being the next Joe Calzaghe and Hamzah Sheeraz being the best prospect in the country).
I prefer Paul Dempsey to Anna Woolhouse but that’s about it re: what prefer from BT. I used to enjoy listening to Barry Jones though.

Sky has better production quality, generally better pundits in terms of their knowledge, both are incredibly biased overall but Adam Smith is difficult to put up with sometimes.
I'll probably find a stream with foreign commentary knowing my luck so my money won't go to either of them unless the pubs are open by then. I imagine most pubs will probably show Sky.

Which pundits? Genuinely intrigued. Froch clearly doesn’t watch boxing, Bellew and Nelson will tip any Matchroom guy. Oliver is reasonable. The best are Macklin, Moore and Our Smigga, who virtually said he doesn’t get used because he doesn’t tow the line. Frampton better than those. Haye, I think, is honest, just gets it wrong a lot! They’ll bring in Joyce, maybe Big John Fury plus others. Both will be going all out for pundits. Wouldn’t surprise me to see some huge names in the studios.

Do we reckon either will get Lennox in the studio? He has had crossed words with both fighters in the past so it would be interesting.

Seems very pro Fury from what I’ve seen. Based purely on who he thinks will win.

I guess I mean the guest pundits so discounting the likes of Nelson and Froch who annoy me more than Smith. Bellew has his moments but generally the other former or current boxers they get in for the odd show, in my opinion, are better than those that BT give us. I'm not saying they're great as both shows are usually biased.

Also In the early to mid 90s Matchroom cards were on both Screensport and ITV, with Screensport showing the whole bill!

Maybe he favours him to win, but I'm sure there was some 'beef' there a couple years back.

Sky launched themselves big-time with the Bruno Tyson first fight, but I think both BBC and ITV shared delayed rights the next night....
And i’m pretty sure one of the TV presenters introduced it with “and now Frank Bruno’s losing world title fight from last night” thereby scuppering anyone’s chances of watching it “as live”
Edit. Actually it was the Bruno Witherspoon fight ...sky not invented yet

Smith. He’s probably not a bad lad but feck me he is unbareable to listen to. I’m genuinely not exaggerating to say that if you offered me £100 to watch Fury vs Joshua (which is love to see as I’m sure we all would) and the catch was I’d have to listen to Smith commentate all the way through it - I wouldn’t even consider accepting. He’d make the Rumble in the Jungle unwatchable with his shtick and poodle growling
