If this has been discussed before, I apologize.

I noticed that RING Magazine recognizes Viltali Kilitschko as a Lineal World Heavyweight Champion, from 2004-2005. Others do not. I am curious what the members of this Forum think? (Ring was the accepted expert on these matters at one time, going all the way back to Dempsey.)

It was HATED on the various forums at the time, and I doubt the majority here recognise it.

How can anyone be a lineal champion by beating a 39 year old who had been inactive for a year?

At that period of time he looked like the best competitor of the division. Anyway, he wasn't proved as the man of the division, despite the fact of being the best candidate for that during those times. It was his brother, who later proved himself to be the man.

- I'll have you know weak as a new born kitty Ali was 38 and been more than 2 yrs inactive and Vit never fought him.

Oh, wait, that privilege was granted to Tubby Lar who was still skinny then...insert snickers... :TU:

I'd guess The Ring figured Lewis had been ducking both their top contenders before he pulled his slick DKing slight of short notice hand by sending Kirk Johnson off to be replaced by Vitali who had just won his 3rd lawsuit against Lenny.

Net result is Vit KOed Kirk in the WBC/RING title eliminator and then beat the dangerous southpaw KO artist who Lewis ducked who had just KOed Wlad whom Lenny also ducked.

There have been much worse Ring champs, but Corrie may have been the first southpaw to fight for the Ring title. He had been double cursed by being South African in the middle of a global boycott of that country which is why he played pro rugby and golf so he could at least get paid.

Lewis ducked Sanders?

You actually get worse.
