Russell jr won’t shift as many tickets in Leeds as Selby did. That fight was brewing for years.

I watched his last fight back yesterday , don't think Warrington's got much to fear .
Suspect workrate for me .

It's not difficult to do a search and find Russell jnr's purse from his last routine fight. If a promoter wanted to make a unification fight with him do you really think he would offer him less money?

Some boxers take dramatic pay cuts in order to better themselves.

Hard to imagine Garry russel jr has been making anywhere near that recently. he is a name for sure, and ill always be interested in his fights, but his lack of activity makes it hard to be a real fan of him, and how is a casual ment to keep up with a guy that hasnt fought twice in a year since 2014.

Does anyone know Russell’s career high purse? What exactly is this guy waiting for? Sometimes you’ve got to roll the dice like Crawford did with Burns and come over. I would pick Russell to win

Difference is, Russell is already a world champion..

Crawford came over to WIN a world title.

Right but I’m still unclear as to all these monstrous paydays that Russell thinks he’s worth

For Joseph Diaz he got a guaranteed $1.4m plus 60% of PPV split share. His last 2 fights he got $1m plus either 50% or 60% of PPV.

In his interviews he says he's happy to stay with Haymon for the rest of his career.
Some of the judging in the UK has been terrible. A world champion with earning potential is not going to take a paycut to get stiffed in Leeds.

Burns was a world champion. Warrington isn't.

Ring magazine champion, so generally regarded as the no 1 in the world.

The fights weren’t on PPV though were they? What’s their source for the numbers? Crazy if he actually got $1m for each of his last fights. Shows how stupid the pay scale is over there now.

He’s not the ring magazine champion quite yet. He’s their number 1 so will get it if he beats either Xu or Russell.

Too right. I’m amazed Kid G didn’t sign that huge 4 fight PBC deal that was strongly hinted at. He’d be one of the biggest earners in British boxing.

diaz vs russell and tug and kiko were on normal showtime in the usa, not ppv. and russell wasnt even the main event for all those lol. cant imagine how awful foreign ppv numbers would be for those if they really did happen

though i guess for puggys sake it would help if russell was some ppv star

what happened to that massive kid g pbc deal btw?

Yep - if they’re paying $1-2m for Gary Russell WBC title fights you would have thought they’d splurge a paltry $300k for an IBF title fight after the talk of multi million dollar deals.

He was the main event for Diaz and Nyambayar according to Boxrec. I don't see what you gain from claiming otherwise.

Kid G was offered deals from 3 companies before purse bids. He thinks he'll be in a stronger position with the belt.

On that Sportekz link you sent their references are places like BoxingNews24 and Boxing Forum! Hardly reliable sources.

I can believe the JoJo Diaz purse but I’m not buying his purse for the Martinez or his last fight.

I dread to think how low the offers were! He’ll end up doing a Sheffield special quoting the infamous strictness of the ibf which is how we ended up with Jo Jo Dan and Kev Bizier.
