Tonight in my opinion we saw a textbook corner stoppage from Jon Pegg and then Warrington getting sent out over and over when he was clearly concussed to hell. Granted two enormously different situations.

Adam Booth has just said he would have thrown the towel in before the 5th or pulled him out. Whilst some would say ‘yeah whatever’ I do actually believe him as he threw the towel in when Haye lost to Thompson rather than have Haye go out on his shield. I look back on that fight and think for Adam Booth a hell of a lot could have rode on that, had Haye been the sack the trainer type he may not have ended up as he is now, one of the most respected trainers in the country.

Obviously Ali v Frazier 3 may be the most famous example of this? What other examples are there of big drama situations involving the corner throwing in the towel?

breland for the wilder vs fury rematch was good...........i imagine for any wilder fight it's tempting to let him go on because he has that eraser, and he dropped fury twice before. not sure most trainers wouldve been able to do it

Thing is... the wilder stoppage was late. After that knockdown in the fifth, that should’ve been it. Hadn’t landed a notable punch since the 2nd, ear was horrid, tired as fvck. That’s what makes wilders criticism of breland so laughable

Earl v Katsidis.....Earls corner threw in the towel as their charge was taking a pasting. Mickey Vann promptly kicked the towel out of the ring and let the fight continue. And Earl dropped Katsides.

What a fight that was. Vann must have seen a strength left in Earl that we could not see looking at the TV. Well done MV.

He got retired in his corner a few rounds later.

They just both kept throwing. He probably endured more damage in them rounds. But yeh, as fans. What a fight.

Its all well and good saying that but what if it had not worked out that way and god forbid Graham got hurt?

The commentators said, the cornermen can't stop the fight. After Vann threw it out.

The towel was thrown in to save Nino Benvenuti against Carlos Monzon in their rematch for the undisputed world middleweight title in 1971. It fluttered in during the third round.

The 2nd Schmeling vs Louis fight , on the final knockdown , the towel comes in and the ref throws it out and goes to take up the count, Schmeling's corner then jump in the ring and the fight is stopped, really it should of been a DQ win for Louis going by the rules.

Barreras cornerman ran into the ring to stop the Pac fight.

He also stormed the ring in the first Junior Jones fight, throwing his sponge about. Got him DQ'd.
