British judges/referees tonight - Warrington card

I was very disappointed tonight.
Kiko Martinez beat Zelfa Barrett, there is no two ways about it. Decisions like that leave a very shitty taste in my mouth. We moaned for years about German judges etc, protecting the likes of Svenn Ottke. We are just as bad in this country if not worse.
Then....
Howard Foster (and i like Howard as a man) makes a call that could have cost Josh Warrington his health/life.
Josh was 'gone' after being dropped heavily in ?round 4. He didnt beat the count and was in no fit state to continue. he could not walk as the count reached 8. This eventually led to Josh being vert very badly KO'd. Blows he neednt have taken if the referee had not shown British bias. His father/cornerman should also have pulled him out. 2 people could have saved Josh from a potentially health affecting KO. And they failed in their duty of care. Shocking im afraid.

Agreed on both points.
The judging and refereeing is worse than it was in Germany during Ottkes run.

I don’t know if it’s worse but it’s probably just as bad.
I do remember Robin Reid getting warned for punching at one point though when he fought Ottke.

Absolutely...zelfa suddenly number two in the uk now...wtf!

and then the other only has 4 for kiko

Hard to govern the judges when the board govern themselves. Something needs to change.
The moneys good in britain but you wont win. Short term gain for long term damage

Scandalous. Kiko performed admirably tonight and deserved the nod, those cards were shambolic. I was saying to myself in the late rounds that Kiko won't get the decision here but 118-111, I mean come on.
I also can't believe JW didn't get pulled out in R4, he was completely gone. Heavy KO looked an absolute certainty after that.

in fairness.......Zelfa is a flashy fighter, and if he was going forward and landing the more meaningful clearer shots you could understand how he could get the nod in a close fight. Some judges do favour a flashy style, so if Zelfa got it, I would have expected it to be a close/majority decision.
But
Zelfa was on the back foot 95% (I know fights can be won like that). Kiko was the aggressor, Kikos head movement and defence was actually pretty good. Kiko seemed to do the more damaging work. And kiko was paid to come over and move Zelfa round, but he ripped up the script and came to win.
I had Kiko by 2 points.

Every single complaint/criticism on here is justified.
If there's going to be fundamental changes in Boxing to avoid last night's debacle I believe it has to start from the top.

But where is the top in boxing?
Is it the alphabet governing bodies? With their mindless rankings, multiple pointless belts etc!
Do you mean within Britain? the British Board of Control? Who time and again back their judges and referees after bizarre scorecards without any reppercussions?
And even if say the BBBoC DID begin to enforce some changes, it will only be limited to UK boxing and BBBoC sanctioned fights. The various governing bodies and commisions around the rest of the world would need to be open to following in their footsteps.

Lara as soon as he stopped Warrington he was calling for doctor to get in ring, he had no thought to celebrate just help a boxer who he could see had taken way to much punishment

If boxing was straight, I'd venture that very few, if any, of the current champions would be champions. It's a profit driven business and that always brings some level of corruption.

I think there was an excellent point raised last night, who outside of those 2 judges gave Barret a wining score of 118-111? - Even Barret looked at his corner in shock.
Absolutely no one did - How can professional judges get it so wrong then?
Robert Smith needs to address this in a professional manner instead of doing interviews like he did in that one that was posted above, which at the time everyone cringed at. I think it proves just how deluded the whole lot of them are at the board, and it is no surprise when it's been run by this man.
The board are embarrassing themselves and the British scene on the world stage is a laughing stock when these type of scores are issued. it is undoing all the good work that the board do.

Adam Smith was talking about Rob Burrow's MND earlier in the fourth round. Then we watch Warrington get punched pillar to post for way longer than we should have.

I get that boxing is a business, and if all the promoters fighters lose they go out of business.
Also for the officials, if don't think anyone if bribed, but they know which side their bread is buttered on, and they are looking to safeguard regular work.
I can hold my nose when the home fighter gets the benefit of the doubt, and it's true getting decisions in Europe, as well in any away corner is difficult.
Nevertheless when you look at what happened to Martinez and Vasquez against Ritson it's just too much, esp when they are one of the highlighted bouts of the night. It's one thing stitching up a fighter in a four rounder at the start of the night but to do it live on TV is just embarrassing.

I wonder if Warrington had lasted 12 rounds he would have got a split decision or a draw ?
