Ingo would outbox Willard and time the right hand in about 8 rounds to secure a KO win.

Willard had a freakishly durable chin. I do not see him getting knocked out by most fighters including ingemar.

Willard also could keep Ingo at bay with his jab, it’d go UD for Willard if he could do so and I think that he would.

I agree with this. I think it would be a close decision, though. I definitely lean toward Jess.

Anyone got footage where I can see Jess's sharp jab a bit more

He had a good chin, but It's a little over the top saying he had a freakish chin. He had a good jab, would not call it great. Parts of his fight against Frank Moran are on Youtube.

Have to say that I never thought about this fight. Guess I would make Ingo a slight favorite. A lot of possible scenarios in this one.

26 rounds with Johnson, many of which Johnson connected at will, I don’t think Johnson was as feather fisted as some make him out to be now. Gunboat Smith had a very good right hand and Smith talked about how he connected squarely with it and Willard didn’t move.
You would have to have an extremely durable chin to be able to rise after three minutes of prime Dempsey in Toledo, no matter how many smelling salts they revived him with.

He used his jab like a tall guy should. You can see this during moments of Johnson fight and Moran fight.

Also, if you read newspaper accounts, many of the reporters wrote how he controlled the pace with his jab and then tied up his opponents when they got inside.

He fought slow, dull. Jab and hold. He used his advantages.

Johnson could punch, but he was not huge puncher. Same with Gunboat Smith. I don't see how this and constantly getting decked by Dempsey shows he had a "freakish" chin.

After giving this some more thought, I've changed my mind. I'm leaning toward Ingemar now. If I keep leaning back and forth, at my age, I could easily take a tumble. I'd better stick with Ingo. :-P
