What do you think of Zhan Kossobutskiy?

Unbeaten Kazakh Heavyweight Zhan Kossobutskiy (15-0, 14) stopped Nigerian puncher Onoriode Ehwarieme (18-2, 17) in the 4th round, and claimed the WBA International Heavyweight title.

Watched some highlights, looks heavy-handed but hasn’t faced anyone too good just yet. Switches from southpaw to orthodox pretty well. Good power in the right hand for a lefty.

I'd like to see him in with someone we know, perhaps a fringe contender like Hughie Fury, Gerald Washington, Charles Martin, Otto Wallin or Christian Hammer, so then we'll have a clearer idea of his capability.

heavy handed, thudding, crude clubber

should fight someone who is euro or fringe euro level next, like kuzmin or hammer or price

zhan's most recent fight, vs alexis garcia, who is most notable for battering amron sands

zhan's got a bit of a weird style. constant stance switching and squaring up. one of the more committed hw body punchers. euro title level is about his level i think

By the time he stepped up his pro campaign somewhat he was over 30 I didn't think he would quite make contender status (say, the top 15) as his amateur career wasn't really world class. He's done pretty well lately though and now I think he's probably going to end up in the various ABC's top 15. But like others have said, I still don't see him beating a legit top 10. Seems to have a decent chin but his jab seems really slow, the opposite of a "sharp" jab.

fighting duhaupas next week, he's at least been keeping fairly busy by heavy standards with 4 fights in the last year

Unbeaten? More like never beat anybody. I guess Kossuobutsskiy - Duhaupas is a fine match-up, though, to find out some more info about both. Although, at age 41, Duhaupas is pretty much on the way out.
