In my opinion, Canelo rarely uses his jab. I appreciate he has one, and a good one - I believe it was on display against Chavez Jr and earlier in his career but it is by no means his weapon of choice. I believe this is rare amongst the elite. Who are the other elite fighters, throughout history, that rarely used a jab?
Roy Jones Jr comes to mind.
Mike Tyson perhaps...I remember him jabbing away occasionally though, more so than Canelo I believe.

Yea I was thinking that....I think it's safe to call Canelo elite (in my opinion).

donaire used it earlier in his career but then basically became a guy who would fight throwing one power punch at a time, usually looking for counter left hooks
juan carlos ramirez is a unified champ atm, certainly elite at 140 for now, but doesnt do much as far as jabs go, just comes in with power shot combos

Good calls. Happy to include the current top dogs like Ramirez.

often azumah nelson, many fights would charge in and lead with hooks or right cross. his fight vs wilfredo gomez is a notable exception , you can see what i mean if you check him out vs jim mcdonnel and sanchez though

Good call, could probably add his rival fenech to that. A high energy mauler, don’t recall him using a jab often.
Edit: might be wrong about that...just watched some highlights.

He’s certainty an elite slugger. If we include him we should include Dwight Qawi.
Still...I think it’s unique, to be a high level fighter and use a jab sparingly.

Tito loved a left hook and power shots but I remember him jabbing also. Vitali jabbed often from my recollection... Not a jab like Wladimir, far less refined but technically a jab.

Not 100% sure though, relying on memory.
He threw a ton against kevin Johnson but i thought that was an anomaly?? I might be remembering wrong

Its hard to think of any hof that didnt jab well
Thought he landed heaps against corrie sanders too.
Yea it’s hard to think of many...Canelo might be a game changer.

really thought for a moment i would never be able to stop laughing.
canelo definitely developed into an excellent fighter (who LOST TO GOLOVKIN. BACK 2 BACK) but you guys are really taking it to far...'gamechanger' cause 'he doesn't jab'...
get a grip!

will be exciting to see how the mexican messiah who changed the boxing game by 'not jabbing' comes up with a plan to even legit win a single round versus saunders.
but i guess the revolutionary style of walking up to your foe and smash in one of those terryfing ground leveling monsters of a body shot will certainly do the trick.
they will definitely turn at least 2 of 3 scorecards in ALMIGHTY canelo's favour despite what transpires in that ring in REALITY.
thats for sure.

Vit won the WBO title with a jab-left nipple combo.
