Steve Cunningham vs Frank Mir

Prograis-Redkach card, Apr 17, heavyweights.
Another oldmen cross-sport match as an official boxing bout.
Frank Mir, 41 years old, the legend of MMA, who last fought a year an a half ago against Roy Nelson in Bellator.
Tarver is now 52 and he last fought nearly 6 years ago.
On the one hand, another freakshow fight, but, on the other hand, it provides some interest for me, because once I had a brief interest in MMA and I followed exactly Mir's career there the most.
Mir's background is in grappling, but after he began to decline as an athlete and suffered 4 losses in a row, he changed his team and started to work on his boxing more. Around 2014-2015 he sparred with Marco Huck and Bermane Stiverne. Originally a southpaw, back then he learned to switch stances. After that he had a two-fight 1st round KO winning streak, over Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva and Todd Duffee. He KOed Silva as a southpaw. Since then he declined more anyway. But who knows, how this goes, Tarver is 11 years older in his 50s.
UPDATE:
Tarver replaced by Steve Cunningham.

This might be slightly off-topic but why is Antonio Tarver coming back ? Is he broke ? And how much money is he getting from that ?
As I never heard of the other guy I really can't tell who's the most likely to win

You can never tell, if fighter is able to win, when he comes back old. But... remember Tarver himself fighting old Rocky Balboa.

When you think about it there's a little bit of a curse for the Boxer starring in Rocky movies right ?
Joe Frazier was in Rocky 1 for a brief scene and I believe it was filmed in 1975 and he never had a win after that
Roberto Duran was in Rocky 2 for a short sparring session with Rocky and it came out in 1979 just one year about Duran's downfall due to the ''No Mas'' fight
Before choosing Mr.T for Lang in Rocky 3 Stallone wanted Shavers who accepted but was too heavy fisted for Stallone (lmao) and Matthew Saad Muhammad who refused the role. The movie came out in 1981 and it was basically when both of those guy downfall began right ?
No need to speak about Tommy Morrison
And finally Antonio Tarver was certainly choosen due to his win over Roy Jones Jr but he ended up losing the title quickly after that without being able to get back to the same level of greatness and now he might be forced to carry on fighting as a 50+ years old man.
I pretty much went off topic here but damn without stretching it too much it could be true. Tell me if I forgot any.

Well, this looks like as a little exception, as Duran at first scored his biggest win, after what he quit, but still he came back later in style.
Tommy Morrison also had his main achievements after his Rocky starring and the first loss.

Frank has some of the best submission grappling in MMA heavyweight history. He was never really know for his striking but in his prime he handled himself well on his feet. Towards the end of his career he was out of shape, slow and his chin was gone, and that was over a year ago.

Welp ... I just hope this won't be an embarassment and they both don't put themselves in useless danger

Mir's best boxing displays were in breaking down and stopping Nogueira, in destroying Silva and Duffee.

If Jake Paul wants you on his undercard, you do it. Mir wasn't a good boxer by UFC standards. Easy money.

Since when is Jake Paul an household name ? The man is a meme fighter and is only destined to have meme fight. That's why he is about and people after just a couple of years are starting to caugh up with the bs and understands why those fights are ridiculous and shouldn't happen.

You don't have to believe it or like it. It's true though.

Personally, I think the Noqueira fight stands out as his great striking performance and although his stand up looked much more composed in his fights against Bigfoot and Dufee, their chins were non-existant at this point and the KO was almost inevitable.
Either way, it's still not good enough to beat Tarver with his skills, it may just be who's body has the most left which is a sad way to judge a fight.

If Tarver was on about 5 years younger and had not that long time off the ring, there wouldn't be any questions.

There are none. The Mir that stopped by nog would get waxed by this old tarver.

Even though Tarver is in his early 50's and coming off a long layoff. I still see this as an easy win for him. Mir was an MMA fighter primarily known for his grappling, and he ain't exactly Prime either.
I think Tarver will win this easily.

He just needs to box him.
This is Tarver’s way of entering the WBA rankings..

A couple years ago Tarver got in a fight over a waffle house bill.
A - He probably wasn't paid much for that.
B - One does not fight over a meal if they are rolling in dough.
C - This could be like Tyson vs Jones. Low risk and a payday.
