The Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s office has charged the unbeaten two-division titlist with 14 counts of traffic violations stemming from a Nov. 2020 hit-and-run in the boxer’s hometown. The most serious charges suggest that Davis allegedly fled the scene of an accident involving bodily injury, along with driving on the highway while his license was suspended and revoked—each of which separately carry a maximum one-year sentence.



1. Four counts of Failure to immediately return and remain at scene of accident involving bodily injury (1 year)

2. Failure of driver involved in accident to render reasonable assistance to injured person (60 days)

3. Failure of vehicle driver involved in accident to furnish req. ID and license (60 days)

4. Failure of vehicle driver involved in accident to exhibit license to police (60 days)

5. Failure of vehicle driver involved in accident to report to nearest police (60 days)

6. Failure of vehicle driver in accident to locate and notify owner of unattended property of damage (60 days)

7. Failure of vehicle driver in accident to furnish required ID information in writing on unattended vehicle property (60 days)

8. Person driving motor vehicle on highway on suspended license and privilege (1 year)

9. Person driving motor vehicle on highway on revoked license and privilege (1 year)

10. Driving motor vehicle on highway without required license and authorization (60 days)

11. Driver fail to stop at steady circular red signal.

According to the press release, Davis will face a maximum of 7 years and 55 days if convicted on all charges.

These kids just can't stay out of trouble.

Obviously won’t do 7+ Years. But could do a stint. I mean you get anyone that’s seen that footage of him dragging his missus around that basketball game they probably won’t be too sympathetic.

Don’t know if tanks career would handle a prison sentence too well it’s already been prone to stalling.

Tank has been arrested a bunch but I don’t think crime charges have stuck yet. Punching a friend at a boxing gym who pressed charges (charges got dropped, mabey paid?)

Fight on the street, arrested but I don’t know if there were charges.

This hit and run. Can the people hit drop charges? Or cause it’s traffic offence it’s the state charging him. I’m no lawyer...

If he walks completely free again when half of prison is filled with people that had a gram of weed... if I’m ever in trouble I might give als legal team a call they seem redhot.

Pretty sure it's a traffic offence. But it varies from state to state in the US.
IIRC in most crimes the victim can drop the charges but the state can still decide to pursue the case.

This one could have some teeth.
Why was his license suspended?

Why his license was revoked doesn't really matter, the fact that Davis has now proven he has no intention of following the law probably matters.

In some states a hit and run with no injuries is a misdemeanor, a hit and run with injuries is a felony.
I don't know the law in Maryland but he has four counts against him.

For all the charges that have been put on him I don’t see anything about dangerous / reckless driving which would seem the most important thing, after all if he wasn’t driving like a tool through red lights none of this would have happened. Don’t know if it differs in the states, but that what would sink him over here (UK)

Tank should be careful, sure he may dodge a lot of charges, pay some people off and stay on the out for now.
However, if you keep running around with an attitude which eventually results in a charge with a stiff sentence he could well blow his entire career.
His inner circle need to have a private chat with him and advise him accordingly, we have seen this happen to fighters many times before, he needs to smarten up immediately.

A friend and co worker was telling me about this yesterday. Wow sorry to hear. This guy has talent but it is a shame if he is guilty of this. His career will be put on hold and possibly be ended. It is really too bad.

His license is suspended, he's not legally allowed to drive at all.
The accident could not have happened if he did not decide to ignore the suspension.

I was looking at the MD sentencing guidelines, and they are based on the federal system. I didnt find anything that prohibits stacking misdemeanors for more than one year, which is the case in my home state and many others, but it might have been there. I didn’t look long. May take a longer look at all of this this weekend and follow up with my opinion on his likely sentence. Often these “press releases” are not super accurate.
