He has the tremendous win over Duran in a 10 rounder in 1972. Besides that he has 2 decisions and a stoppage of Josue Marquez, who pushed Cervantes to a SD in a title bout. A pair of clear decisions over Ray Lampkin, who gave Duran a tough fight in their 1975 title bout, a kayo of former champion Alfonso Frazer, and a one sided decision over (better than his record) Guts Ishimatsu. So is DeJesus Top 10, Top 20, Top 50 ?

A very excellent and good fighter that if it weren't because of Roberto Duran, probably he would have been the best lightweight of the 70s decade.
Was lightweight champion in all levels of competition: Puerto Rican, NABF and WBC World Lightweight Champion.
The ONLY MAN that truly beat the great Hands of Stone in his prime. But, unfortunately, Duran avenged the loss twice by knockout.
Was the first man to dropped Duran. And he did it twice in the first round.
To me, a top 20 all-time great lightweight.

I think Buchanan was better than DeJesus.
I don't think differently. Ken Buchanan was a hell of a boxer. He had a quick left jab with that typical Brittish style of boxing.
Also Buchanan accomplished much more than De Jesus.

But he was the Puerto Rican and NABF champion! No neither he or Buchanan were not one of the top 20 lightweights. Good fighter. elmer always props them up to make Duran look better.

Top 50. No shame in a division this deep.
And Caractacus, I had to read it a few times, but you cracked me up.

Esteban De Jesus and Ken Buchanan were way better lightweight boxers than welterweights Pete Ranzany, Andy Price, Floyd Mayweather, Sr and Randy Shields. Guys that Sugar Ray beat at 147lbs. Right?

Yeah, he beat Andy Price, Pete Ranzany and Randy Shields easily. They were nothing to be awe about.
But, Ken Buchanan and Esteban De Jesus were way above those guys. You cannot say that Sugar Ray would have whupped them that easily. The fight would have had to be at lightweight to see if he beat them EASILY. I don't think he would. He would have won, but not that easily.

Argument's not about Leonard or Duran. I can't see DeJesus as a top 20 LW because outside of his one great win, he has 3 wins against Marquez, 2 against Lampkin, and 1 each against Frazer and Ishimatsu. That's good but not top 20 alltime material.

The Ring Magazine, the Bible of Boxing, ranked De Jesus in the top 20 lightweights. I don't see nothing wrong with that. The only guy that beat him twice at 135lbs was a guy that was out of this world. Extraordinary. Exceptional. I don't have to say his name.

DeJesus is great. He beat Duran. Duran is out of this world. He beat DeJesus twice.

Duran whupped your boy at both at their very best. Your boy cannot say that. De Jesus can boast about it.

OK maybe DeJesus is top 20. Then Ray Lampkin is also top 50, because he gave Duran a hard fight, and went the distance twice with Esteban who beat Duran once and dropped him twice.

Top 50. Beating Duran before being brutalized by him twice was impressive, beating Guts at the time was a nice win, as was beating Lampkin. Frazier had already jumped the shark a bit by the time he fought DeJesus, having been KO’d twice by Cervantes. I think he won less than half his fights after that. I know they weren’t at lightweight but besides the Duran fights, the DeJesus fights I remember the most were his bad losses to Cervantes and Mamby for jr. WW crowns.

Yes Leonard can claim it. As for my previous statement, I'm mocking your circular reasoning. Which of course you didn't understand.

Lampkin had to have been great. He gave DeJesus and Duran a tough fight. DeJesus was great because he beat Duran. Duran was out of this world because he beat DeJesus and Lampkin. That all makes sense, right?
Let's not all forget that Lampkin won the NABF championship. Further proof of Lampkin's greatness as if we needed any more.

Leonard cannot claim shiiit! He knew that he never beat Duran at his very best. De Jesus can say that. He could also brag that he dropped Duran twice in the first round. Sugar Ray, the bigger fighter, could not even hurt him.

Ray Lampkin at least was great on that day with Duran in Panama City. He went toe to toe with a legend, while your pussy boy, who was bigger and stronger, clutched and grabbed for survival.
Duran is out of this world. Everybody knows that. Even your pussy boy is amazed at his accomplishments and said that Duran in his personal list, is top 5 all-time. GTFOH!

Ray Lampkin was great when he fought Duran? Oh, of course.
You are calling Leonard that?
Wasn't it Duran who quit like one?

And for the record I thought Viruet deserved the decision against DeJesus as well !
