His last bout was 17 months ago.
He was Crumpled by Canelo in that bout.

I don't know which website rates Krusher as high as number two on their pound-for-pound list.
Surprisingly though, BoxRec rates Kovalev at number ten on their pound-for-pound ratings and he's also the top-dog at 175lbs.
He's suffered four losses in the last five years and also defeated three novices during that period. His lack of discipline (too much booze and partying) resulted in the Eleider Alvarez loss.
Krusher's also been inactive during the last seventeen months and he won't be fighting again in the near future, due to testing positive, by VADA, for testosterone.
The Russian has really hit the self-destruct button.
His career is over.
And if he does eventually return to the ring, he'll be used as a big name highlight-reel KO victim (stepping-stone) for some young inexperienced prospect.

boxrec rankings are good but have a massive bias for the past (and for a lot of fights at the moment, liked last version where you quality mattered more and quantity less)... Also losing to the best dosent hurt you at all really.
Wilder, GGG, Kov, Whyte, Porter, Povetkin.... They are all ridiculously highly ranked on the p4p list based on current ability.

Boxrec should add that as a search filter in the rankings

Never take BoxRec rankings seriously..

There's no need to ever wonder why about Boxrec's rankings. They suck. Period.
Don't even bother taking them the least bit serious.
They're ok for getting an idea about guys you've never seen before, and where they rank kinda sorta, but as far as the big names in Boxing. They're almost always off by miles.

ideally speaking yes, but that might get them involved in unnecessary legal "misundestandings" because some of the dopers/cheats got away with it..

I don't remember Kovalev failing a drug test

The current BoxRec algorithm is terrible, the rankings make no sense. The previous one was okay, i have no idea why they have changed it. Nobody responsible noticed that it is screwed?

Sergey Kovalev failed a VADA administered drug test in the middle of January, when he tested positive for testosterone.
His 30th January fight against Bektemir Melikuziev was called-off as a result of it, because the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) cancelled the event.
Krusher's career has basically ended.

Ahh alright. Testosterone ain't that big a deal really. I know Vitor Belfort sure needed it in MMA for his career resurgence. There were a few years there in Japan where he just didn't have any kinda aggression to himself at all, and then he kinda got a resurgence of what made him popular in the first place going. I'm sure he was taking some kinda testosterone, but he supposedly had a medical issue where his body was depleted of the amount he should've had or something so he might've actually got clearance to take something like that. I don't know.
Testosterone isn't exactly enhancing anything to me. Just helping you hang on to what you had a while longer.

I am near certain they changed it to have their desired 1, 2, 3 at HW which completely goes against their supposed lack of bias. I believe previously it went AJ, Fury with Wilder down in 5th after Wilder/Fury 2. They then made the adjustment which I think may have changed how they judge inactivity and points lost when losing, and it ended up with Fury, Wilder, AJ in that order. It also ridiculously put Wilder and Fury in the p4p top 10.
It was discussed pretty heavily on this thread:

If you go to April 2020 (around page 150-160) on this thread, you can see Computerrank try and explain why they butchered the rankings. After the backlash I would have thought they would fix their mistake:

Testosterone is still an anabolic steroid that increases muscle mass.
It's a pretty big deal.

Not to me, but then again Steroids ain't a big deal to me. Even though I personally wouldn't use 'em. Even as an athlete. I don't really give a sh*t one way or the other if guys do.
A better fighter will win, even if his opponent is roided up.
De La Hoya vs Vargas for example.

Yes, yet another example of how these eastern European boxers have no idea how 21st century boxing works.
Promoters
Sanctioning bodies
NSAC/Vegas
Judges
Chemists/ labs
Testing protocols - 7/11 weeks etc
TUEs
FFS Sergey, you should have had a word with Saul.
Unless you're on first name terms with the creeps who run the show (or your name is Miller) you might risk getting a rather nasty rap on the knuckles.
Mr Alvarez could have given you a real decent list of contact numbers if you had chummed up to him real proper.
These ghouls have got a big fat wallet filled with 'reasonable' get out of jail cards.

It seems you're defending Kovalev's decision to consume PED's.
Even if the concept of people cheating in sport doesn't particularly bother you, the fact remains is that Krusher's decision to resort to PED's to only slightly enhance his performance inside the ring, has very likely cost him millions of dollars and also ended his career.
And I don't know about you, but I can't see any upside about intentionally making such an obviously stupid mistake.
Sergey's not a naive child - he knew what the consequences of his actions would be if he got caught out - he's resided in the US for at least 12 years!
